Stay #2: We'd Stay With You, Henry!

Still the second thread, but I changed the title since it came out on DVD (officially) during the the time FF was down.

Anyone have any new thoughts about it?

I still haven't seen it yet but after exams I will go and look for it. Bianca did you see it? I forgot?

-Bianca- 04-17-2006 05:48 PM

I did, back when it was in theatres.

Ryan kicked ass, but the movie itself was one of those films that you really had to pay attention to every little detail in, to get and really appreciate everything. It's not necessarily for everyone (although any Ryan fan should see it, IMO, because he is that good in it).

I'm going to either rent it or buy it soon. :)

Well I love the stuff Ryan is in so I'll probably end up renting it though at first just to see it and then if I love it then I might end up buying it later on.

I'm glad that you enjoyed it. I love the banner too.

It was my favourite banner out of all the ones I made before, so I was definitely glad it was still around to be saved. :)

This is her fav? Well you did an amazing job out on it. It has a nice sinister yet intriguing tone about it too.

I just like how the colouring came out... it fits the film, I thought.

heaven85 04-20-2006 06:40 PM

I agree. great coloring.

-Bianca- 04-22-2006 08:48 AM

Speaking of coloring, I really liked how the film was shot.

The use of color and imagery was top notch.

Awesome!!!! It shows for talented film making.

I saw this movie last night and enjoyed it. I think Ryan Gosling is awesome. I discovered him first in that movie with Sandra Bullock, which I can't recall the name of at this point. I then saw and adored him in The Notebook. He was excellent in that. He was very good in Stay, too, but I didn't like the movie as well. I was very confused by the ending. What is everyone's impression? Was the entire movie prior to the scene of him dying on the Brooklyn bridge a dream? Some sort of weird, wacko dream he had before he died? I was very confused by that. But I thought the movie was very stylish and had interesting directing. I am definitely an even bigger fan of Ryan now.

-Bianca- 04-23-2006 08:58 AM

From how I saw it, it was basically Ryan's character putting the people on the bridge into a story in his head before he died and the story he imagined was basically a really twisted, convoluted semi-truth of what was going on in reality (Ewan's character trying to save him, the little boy asking about whether he was going to die, the blaming himself for the death of his parents and girlfriend, etc.). Or something like that. :goof:

It was definitely a bit of a mess, plot-wise, but Ryan and colors were, again, terrific.

Yeah, the plot wasn't that great. But it had potential, and may have been better if someone had reworked the script a bit to make it more clear.

I will definitely get the dvd soon and watch it.

It really kinda felt like whoever wrote the thing was just trying way too hard to be deep and "surprising" and, instead, it all just came off a bit messy.
