That would be none other than Ryan Gosling - yes, Half Nelson and The Notebook Ryan Gosling. According to Patton Oswald (King of Queens), he heard a rumor that Gosling wants to play the young Kirk. "How awesome would that be? J.J. Abrams can pretty much do no wrong, as far as I'm concerned," he remarked to William Stape.

Whoever plays the young Kirk and Spock, with J.J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman, and Bob Orci attached, we're in for a lot of surprises and treats. Star Trek XI is still currently in pre-production and development; it's set for a December 25, 2008 release.

I can't see Ryan doing a young Kirk, that's a blockbuster type film and Ryan picks his roles based on diversity and challenge....as we've seen from his past movies.

I really hope that holds true.

I've always figured he'll do at least one of those "big" movies though... Star Trek is just not what I'd want that movie to be by any means. You can't bottle Shatner, if you will.
