ah man. that bites. i saw the story today on E!news. they said he dropped out for creative differences?? and they started filming today. :(

heaven85 10-22-2007 10:19 PM

This really really sucks. I was so looking forward to it.

QueenBee 10-23-2007 07:31 AM

Boo to peter Jackson

he didn't expect Ryan to gain 20 pounds and grow a beard

and some articles say PJ couldn't stand Ryan...
that he was 2 demanding, fighting with wardrobe people, cut a blad scalp in his hair

funny bc no one has ever bad mouthed Ryan's method
and others have said PJ is a S.O.B

downinnewyork 10-23-2007 08:27 AM

What's annoying is the report in the NY Post that Peter hated Ryan because he was a diva on set. Um. ROFL. a) Impossible, as far as a Hollywood standards go. He has a solid gold reputation. b) So he's a diva--because he cut HIS OWN HAIR? Wow, what a demanding SOB. :P

The LA Times ran an article that it was because of the weight gain, that it was more than Peter Jackson expected, which makes more sense to me. PJ is known for being a control freak.

QueenBee, where did you read that Ryan cut a bald patch in his hair? LMAO, that's awesome.

BTW, I've never introduced myself -- I'm Tara, nice to meet you guys.

^ It was in Variety (the hair bit). At least when I read it.

I think the diva bit was just an attempt for Jackson to cover his own ass. I could see them clashing a little because he seems to have a very strict interpretation of how he sees his characters and Ryan has his own approach often to things, but no one has implicated Ryan as being an ass like that, ever. I doubt he suddenly became one now, on this.

 Tara!

heaven85 10-24-2007 11:09 PM

 Tara.

I doubt he became a diva. He definitely does has his own way of doing things we all knew that but I guess PJ didn't love his way of doing things. Its totally his loss that Ryan isn't doing it.

Quote:

* Actor Ryan Gosling was fired from The Lovely Bones because "he just gained too much weight," a source said. A second insider said, "He ate grilled cheese every day." But a representative for DreamWorks, which is making the film, explained, "We have huge respect for Ryan's work. It was truly a case of creative differences, plain and simple"

Whats in the US gossip mags: Britney's diaries offered for sale - 26 Oct 2007 - NZ Herald: Entertainment News, Reviews and Gossip from New Zealand and around the World
The weight thing seems to clearly be it now, given how many sources are citing.

That makes me even more mad.

QueenBee 10-25-2007 07:09 PM

the only thing I'M mad about is how those ''sources'' specially Page 6's ones
are trying to give Ry a bad image.

when all the directors , actors and crew members he has worked him say he is the sweetes guy and stuff like that

now he is a Diva that is ''too demanding''?

someone probably doesn't like Ryan and tried to give him a bad image by that...SOB

at least DreamWorks has already released an statement on that saying how they admire and respect Ryan's work and that it was only creative diferences.simple as that

so I believe them...not some gossip column

heaven85 10-25-2007 11:21 PM

I can't believe its about the weight thing. He did it for the role. That totally makes me mad. At least dreamworks stated that they admired his work.

-Bianca- 10-26-2007 06:46 AM

Most of the stuff in PageSix is planted, so it's probably actually likely the studio or someone connected to it dropped it to do PR on their end though.

I'm just annoyed it seems like they wanted him more for his "hottness" or whatever than his talent in the end. I'm not giving them a pass. :pout:

QueenBee 10-26-2007 07:11 AM

maybe peter gave him the thumbs up to weight gain and beard cause he though of of Noah
since Ryan did both to play Older Noah

although older Noah was 5 years ago....

tooty 10-26-2007 07:19 AM

i was really mad when i heard the news. I can't believe it. The only reason i was excited about the movie was because of Ryan.

~ Didi ~ 10-26-2007 08:44 AM

That is sad news. I was very surprised because it seemed like they were all looking forward to working together. But since Peter Jackson picked Mark Wahlberg as his second choice, it must be because Ryan gained too much weight. I guess they both saw the character different in their minds. And since production was beginning soon, there was no way that Ryan could lose that weight. I don't really think it's Peter Jackson's fault (neither Ryan's though). It's his movie and he wants it the way he sees it. And he's the boss. It's just really sad because Ryan is a great actor. But thankfully Ryan has made a name for himself and doesn't depend on that movie.

Sacha 10-27-2007 04:58 PM

From Parade.com, Ryan clears up the rumours:

"I think, people are making it a far more interesting story than it actually is," he says. "The age of the character versus my real age was always a concern of mine. Peter and I tried to make it work and ultimately it just didn’t. I think the film is much better off with Mark Walhberg in that role. Peter Jackson is an incredible filmmaker and I’m here to tell you that he has things up his sleeve that are going to blow peoples’ minds. I’m going to be the first person in line to buy tickets."

Thats such a classy response

heaven85 10-27-2007 06:13 PM

That is such a great response by Ryan!!!!!! That is a very nice response.
