Shelton bridge becomes movie set.

Quote:
New Haven Register - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- -- Jerry Brown scours the Internet weekly for word of local film shoots, hoping to score a role as an extra, but it wasn't until Friday night that he finally saw his first movie set up close.
"I figured it'd be a lot of equipment, but the amount of people is amazing," Brown said, watching as the 100-member crew for the murder mystery film, "All Good Things" prepared an evening shoot along a bridge over the Housatonic River.

According to Variety, the film is set in the 1980s and stars Kirsten Dunst as a "beautiful girl from the wrong side of the tracks," and Ryan Gosling as the "scion of a New York real estate dynasty." Their fairy tale love affair ends when the girl disappears. The plot develops as a detective uncovers information leading to the truth of her disappearance. Political stakes mount and people close to the case begin to die. The film is slated to hit theaters next year.

Gosling, much to adoring fans' glee, was in town Friday shooting a minute-long scene in which he dumps suitcases and trash off a bridge.

Die-hard Gosling fans and city residents Lisa Masone, 21, and Gina Scarpa, 29, staked out the site hoping to catch photos of the star for their Facebook pages.

"Nothing like this ever happens in Shelton," Masone said. "I loved him in 'The Notebook.' He's super talented. He's a great actor."

Scarpa was able to snap a few photos of Gosling sporting sideburns, a white T-shirt and dark jeans as he hopped out of his van around 7:30 p.m.

"It's the worst picture ever. At least you know it's him," Scarpa said.

While fans gushed over Gosling, other actors mulled about the set, including Gosling's hand stand-in, Billy Stevens, 19, of New York City.

Stevens' nails were cleanly manicured with rouge-painted press-on nails and his hands were painted with age spots and coated with fake wrinkles. "My hands are highly trained," the actor said nonchalantly. "Sometimes I grab things, sometimes I throw things."

Stevens said he had not read the script, and did not know the relevance of his scene.

Following recent state legislation providing tax credits to filmmakers, movie buffs have had several opportunities to catch stars in action locally, including at last summer's hard-to-miss filming of an "Indiana Jones" movie on the streets of downtown New Haven and Robert DeNiro's East Rock appearance shooting of "Righteous Kill" later that summer.

Amy Cohen, who handles public relations for "All Good Things," said the tax incentive, scenic and period locations were all factors in bringing the set to Connecticut.

WATERBURY -- Actress Kirsten Dunst and actor Ryan Gosling were spotted taking a 10-minute break from filming outside Drescher's restaurant, 25 Leavenworth St., at about 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

The young stars are in the city filming a wedding scene for the movie, "All Good Things." The ambitious 14-hour shooting schedule was slated to run from 11 a.m. Wednesday until 1 a.m. Thursday.

Republican-American photographer Steven Valenti captured Dunst smoking a cigarette during her break.

"The actors looked right at me and I said, 'I'm with the local newspaper,' and they were cool when they knew I wasn't with the paparazzi," Valenti said, noting the actors took time to pose for pictures with local residents and business people who were in the area.

Some on-set candids.

Quote:

Governor Lounsbury’s mansion was transformed into Gracie Mansion on Tuesday, when Kristen Dunst and Ryan Gosling arrived to shoot scenes for their upcoming movie, All Good Things.

Earlier this year, the Community Center appeared on the big screen in the Disney release College Road Trip, starring Martin Lawrence. Ridgefield moviegoers might have noticed that the inn where Mr. Lawrence and his co-star Raven Symone stayed with a stowaway pig was actually the Main Street home of former Gov. Phineas Lounsbury, now the Ridgefield Community Center.

This week, the Community Center was staged to look like Gracie Mansion, the residence of the mayor of New York City.

Allison Stockel of the Ridgefield Playhouse, who heads the Ridgefield Film Commission, helped arrange the Community Center as a shooting site.

“They’re using the Community Center instead of shooting at Gracie Mansion — kinda cool!” she said.

All Good Things will be released late this year or early in 2009, she said.

Produced by Michael London’s Groundswell Productions and directed by Andrew Jarecki, All Good Things is a murder mystery, set in the 1980s.

Ms. Dunst, who is best known as the heroine in the Spider-Man series, will play a beautiful girl from the wrong side of the tracks who gets involved with the scion of a New York real estate dynasty.

Mr. Gosling will play a young Donald Trump-like character, according to themovieblog.com. Mr. Gosling’s recent films include The Notebook and Lars and the Real Girl.

“It’s a fairly large production even though it’s an independent film — equipment trucks, caterers — the whole deal,” Ms. Stockel said.

The Ridgefield filming was scheduled to take place between 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, and 1 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11.

Police were on hand Tuesday, but Main Street traffic was not stopped for the filming.
