Any movies you wish Rachel had accepted? Any movies you were glad she ended up not being in? :)

Quote from Bradley on the untitled Cameron Crowe project. They confirm Emma and Rachel's involvement, not sure Bradley confirmed it himself, or that they just wrote is based on the reports...

Quote:

Bradley sounded just as excited to be working with Cameron in the untitled project which he said would start shooting in September. He said, “Cameron is one of the great American directors. ‘Jerry Maguire’ is maybe the best film of that type ever made. I don’t know how this happened but I have the opportunity to work with two phenomenal filmmakers. I’m very much looking forward to it. I can’t say anything about the story yet but Cameron wrote it. It’s under lock and key.”

What’s certain is that Emma Stone and Rachel McAdams will costar with Bradley. The film is described as an adventure-comedy-romance from the director who also gave us “Almost Famous,” “Vanilla Sky” and “We Bought a Zoo.”

I would love to see rachel as harley quin. Her smiles is perfect and she can play evil people aswell. Hopefully this come true in the furture. Btw lots of people pick her as their top 3 choices

This isn't really news but it's an interesting blog post about actresses getting and not getting Oscar nominations in the past several years... It mentions Rachel of course: Q&A: Disappointing Actresses, Mixed-Up Hunks, Subtitled*Crickets; its comments are worth a read as well.

I'm watching 21 Grams right now and I can't stop staring at Naomi Watts's precious dimply smile and I would like to know why Rachel doesn't have more roles like hers because she definitely has the talent and they have such a similar look. Is she just afraid to get that gritty or something? I don't get it. That is all. This has been brought to you by a Netflix marathon.

Oh! And that's a great read, Wendy, thanks so much for the link!

winterbird 05-24-2013 01:41 AM

Thanks for the link Wendy :) I agree that turning down the Devil Wears Prada probably didn't really help her career. Also the gap between 2005-2009 was too big, I know she did Married Life and The Lucky Ones but I guess it would have been better if she did maybe one feature film in those years. She kind of had to come-back after an amazing 2005.

I know some people 'blame' Ryan for her career choices in those years, I'm not really a fan of blaming other people - I mean in the end she made those choices herself - but I guess it's also a shame the movie Ryan was trying to make in 2006 with him directing and Rachel starring could have been also good for both of their careers.

Rikayla 05-24-2013 01:45 PM

Idk why people blame Ryan. I've never blamed Ryan... =/
It's like saying we should blame Michael for her romcom career choices lately too.

If there's anyone to blame, imho, it's Shelley Browning and/or UTA. They're the ones who get scripts forwarded to them, who in turn, pass them to Rachel.

winterbird 05-24-2013 02:32 PM

I never blamed Ryan as well, I think he has a good eye for interesting projects! :)

Yahoo/The Wrap just released this story, about UTA seeking to sell stake for private equity. I wonder if it's also a reason that Rachel and Noomi left.

I watched an interview with Michael Douglas the other day, and it made me wonder if "We Have Always Lived in the Castle" is ever going to happen. We only had one report in 2010 about Rachel being attached to it, but given the health circumstances of Douglas it's possible they delayed it or maybe it's never going to happen at all...

nick1982 05-26-2013 04:41 AM

It's funny you should mention this today. I've been catching up on American Horror Story Asylum this weekend, and was thinking about how great Jessica Lange's performance in it is. This immediately got me thinking about Rachel, and how it would be awesome if she were to do something really dark like Asylum... which then reminded me of the Castle project with Douglas and Ronan.

I was really excited when this news was first released, and would love to see it all come together, but considering Michael has been involved in a number of projects since his recovery, I'm not sure if this is still on his short-term radar.

winterbird 05-27-2013 01:55 AM

I was excited as well Nick, it seems like an interesting project. And I would love to see her working with Ronan and Douglas in the future!

EDIT: Director James Ponsoldt is making a movie about Hillary Clinton's years in law school. Amanda Seyfried, Jessica Chastain, Scarlett Johansson and Reese Witherspoon are apparently 'frontrunners'. Ponsoldt is also quoted in the original report, saying " a lot of really great actors are interested in playing these roles".

Rachel is not mentioned, but Glamour thinks they should consider her:

I'd love to see Rachel McAdams turn up her edgy side a little, channeling Clinton--like Morning Glory + State of Play x 1000.
When I first read it, I didn't really think about Rachel being good for this part tbh. But after seeing the picture Glamour posted I think Rachel actually looks a little bit like a young Hilary.

Rikayla 05-30-2013 05:55 PM

Rachel doesn't have Hillary's cheeks though. She would need to fatten up a tiny bit.

Btw, Lindsey, did you see the last post from this thread at IMDB? Because I agree with it... Makes me lose hope that it again won't be her year. Hope she gets a nomination at BAFTAs or something.

winterbird 05-31-2013 07:12 AM

I didn't, but I read it just now. And sadly I have to agree with her. But in the end, you never know it when it comes to award season. There are always surprises and unexpected nominations.
