I was planning on opening this thread for a while now, but I never made the time. Anyway, thought it would be fun and interesting to have a thread to discuss and support Rachel's environmental work.

Rachel has joined the cast of the documentary "Sonic Sea" as narrator. You can watch the trailer here:

A preview of Rachel's narration work can be found on the official website: Sonic Sea | - I think it only works on the desktop site. Just click "continue" when you are at the homepage.

Great idea for a thread, Lindsey, thanks for posting it! Just got a chance to visit the site on my computer and I LOVE IT! I could listen to her all day! :sigh:

Very cool thread Lindsey, thank you! :) And I hope Rachel and her friends re-activate the greenissexy.org website soon :)

Rachel was part of the Save The Artic campaign last year, she voiced the polar bear:

Quote:

A polar bear strolling the streets of a city centre....its only refuge following the devastating effects of Arctic drilling.

Rachel McAdams plays the voice of the polar bear in this awe-inspiring video depicting what that would look like.

The video is being released today because July 1 marks the opening of Shell’s window to drill in the fragile waters of the Arctic Ocean off Alaska.

Get involved by signing the petition http://savethearctic.org and sharing this video with your friends. We need action. We need you.

One of my favorite things about Rachel is how she publicly supports the charities and causes she really believes in.

winterbird 03-22-2016 02:39 AM

Yes, and I also love she is supporting smaller and local projects :)

I think this is the first mini bio they published:
Quote:

Rachel’s love for the planet began at a young age - summers spent at the cottage, swimming in the Great Canadian Lakes , riding her banana seat bike around the neighborhood. Winters consisted of tobogganing through the treacherous woods and building dangerous snow forts. Today, her bike is still her vehicle of choice and she isn’t above the occasional snow fort. But she’s trying to lighten her footprint on the earth - supporting tree planting organizations, switching her house to green power and developing an OCD for unplugging anything with a plug. She dreams of one day living in a treehouse and being able to grow her own food.
The OCD for "unplugging anything with a plug" still makes me smile

   So cute! Didn't she say something similar in a late night interview once? About how she'd been at her parents' house and had unplugged their refrigerator or something?

I remember reading this on the site! :) thanks for reminding Lindsey :) however I'm having difficulty to remember the posts written by Rachel herself. I wish the site was still active :(

I remember her talking somewhere about that sort of thing, Amanda :) I also remember her saying that she wanted to stay at some place long enough to grow her own cabbages (or was it potatoes?) one day :)

winterbird 03-22-2016 01:25 PM

She talked about unplugging plugs during her 2009 Conan interview :)

One of the post cards she posted on greenissexy:

I knew you'd know it, Lindsey! You have the best Rachel memory ever. She's so cuuuute.

And I loved those post cards! I remember when they were posting on their Twitter account how there was a post about "soap nuts" with the Canadian spelling in a word and I was like, OH THAT'S RACHEL!! I wish they still had the site active too!
