Did you hear about Rachel McAdams newest role?? She is set to star in the new Sherlock Holmes movie opposite Robert Downey Jr.

There was a press conference announcing the official cast today in London. And ET has a video of Rachel (and RDJ) talking about the movie. (From 00:14 to 1:01)

Here's a bit more about the movie:

Robert Downey Jr. brings the legendary detective to life as he has never been portrayed before. Jude Law stars as Holmes’ trusted colleague, Watson, a doctor and war veteran who is a formidable ally for Sherlock Holmes. Rachel McAdams stars as Irene Adler, the only woman ever to have bested Holmes and who has maintained a tempestuous relationship with the detective. I remember when we first heard of her being cast, I was like, "Oooh, Rachel with an english accent." But then I was reading about Irene Adler (thanks wikipedia

), I realised she was from New Jersey. I was like, oh.

Wasn't sure if I was excited or disappointed.

On a selfish note though. I'm glad she's doing a movie that seems to be on the larger scale. Because it means that it'll be certain that I'll get to see it.

I was looking forward to seeing Rachel with an English accent too. At least she said in an interview that she'll have some kind of accent. I am also looking forward to seeing the costumes that they'll have.

I like that this movie sounds more action/adventure driven. It's not really something we've seen Rachel in yet.

I loved her dress.

I'm looking forward to seeing Rachel hanging from the ceiling too. And Sherlock Holmes doing martial arts.
