A lot of news this past week, so easier to post it in two parts (or maybe 3?), starting with these new quotes on Rachel's character by producer Feige:

When Rachel McAdams was first involved and announced there was this sort of assumption that if you’re having a female lead in a Doctor Strange movie that it would be Clea. You’ve gone with a much more grounded character. Can you talk about the decision to leave that character for a future adventure?
FEIGE: We wanted a grounded character. We wanted a character that was a connection to Strange’s life in New York City, in the normal world. Somebody that could be his anchor to the real world, to his present in the beginning of the film, and by the time he re-encounters her, wearing that, someone who can comment on his transformation as a character. This cast as you all know is shockingly amazing, and Rachel, who’s finished her role, well, 99% of it – perfect timing so she can spend time at the Academy Awards now, we planned it like that – is great and can bring again a grounded reality to the character of Strange at the beginning of the film, and of course as she encounters some odd and strange and other-wordly when he encounters her late in the movie, you believe it. You believe that her reaction to what she is seeing like, say, an astral form or somebody that she used to know as an arrogant surgeon. Her reaction is funny but you also buy it.

I'm gonna have to disagree that an interdimensional girlfriend would be going too far

But it gives me a little hope that it says "in the first film"?

Good point, but I think they are going to bring another actress on for Clea.

I think so, too, Lindsey. This statement certainly implies that they are going to involve Clea in the plot at some point but probably it's not gonna be Rachel. I just hope that this being a Marvel movie and all, Rachel gets to become a huge part of the promotion tour. I know she never does heavy promotion but maybe the Marvel effect will enable us to see more of her at the promotion tour.

Marvel changed things up, I mean in the comics Christine is not directly connected yo Dr Strange, but I can't imagine them changing the Clea arc so much that she is not a love interest anymore.

ugh the whole romantic interest thing. ughhhhhh
this role better be worth it, rachel. like if you don't even get a bit part in the big avengers movies #3 and #4, then this wouldn't have been worth it

@ Wendy - Probably a bit naive, but I was a bit surprised about the romantic angle this trailer seems to show. Thus far they gave us the impression their current relationship for as friends and given that they hinted about Clea, I thought they would not make Rachel a love interest.
