Rachel McAdams - 5 Roles You Think Rachel Would've Been Great For

I don't think this topic has ever been posted before. Here goes. Basically, just name any role from any movie (from the past or present) that you would've loved to see Rachel play. I'll go first.

Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale. This is my favorite Bond girl. She just doesn't seem like your typical, just there for sex and looks only type of Bond girl. She had so much more depth. I absolutely looved Eva Green in this role (she was perfect), but I couldn't help but wonder how Rachel'll be like.

I would have liked to have seen her in 'The Devil Wears Prada'. I really liked that movie and it would have been great if Rachel had done it.

I really liked it, too!

I thought both Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt were great in their roles. Rachel would've been great in either role. It would've been fun to see her in Emily's role. We all know she could play "caustic bitch" well.

Which role would you liked to have seen her in -- Anne's or Emily's?

I also would've liked to see her in Woody Allen's Match Point in Scarlett's role as Nola. Scarlett was pretty good, but I think Rachel would've brought even more depth/complexity to the role. I hope to see Rachel in a Woody Allen movie soon! That would be great.

She was up for Devil Wears Prada wasn't she but she decided not to do it because she didn't want to just do a movie with no real point?

I agree it would have been cool to see her in it - I would have liked her to play Anne Hathaway's role.

I also think she would have been really cute in the movie 13 Going On 30 (not that I don't like Jennifer Garner b/c I really love her) but I think it would have really suited Rachel. I think she also would have been good in the movie Ever After

Yeah, apparently she turned it down.

But would have liked to see her in Anne's role as well, even though I liked Anne Hathaway in that movie. Emily Blunt was perfect as Emily. I would have loved to see Rachel with Meryl Streep.

13 Going on 30 was such a cute movie!

What do you guys think of Rachel as Pepper Potts in the Iron Man movie? She turned that down also.

I agree about 13 Going On 30 -- Rachel would've been good in Jennifer's role. Rachel definitely has what it takes to be the "it girl" for romantic comedies, but personally, I'd like to see her in more complex, dramatic roles.

I agree about Ever After, too. It's one of my favorite movies from back in the days. It never fails to make me cry.

I'd love for Rachel to be in more period movies -- along the lines of Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, The Painted Veil, etc.

I think Rachel would've been great as Pepper Potts. Honestly, it wasn't that great of a role, but it would've definitely skyrocketed her career, considering how big Iron Man turned out to be.

I just watched The Reader recently... wow, it's one of the best movies that I've seen recently. Kate Winslet was absolutely amazing in her role. I couldn't help but wonder how Rachel would've handled Kate's role. Kate was also terrific in Revolutionary Road (correction, Kate's pretty much rocked all of the roles she's had). I'd love to see Rachel in any/all of Kate's roles to date.

I love Kate Winslet, she's one of my favorite actresses. I would love to see a movie with Kate/Rachel.

I agree, Pepper Potts was an okay character, but I would have liked to see Rachel involved in that franchise. I would have rather seen her as Black Widow in the sequel that they're shooting rather than her as Pepper Potts. At least we'll get to see RDJ/Rachel in Sherlock Holmes!

I can't wait for that.

Anyway, I would've loved to see Rachel in Closer in Natalie Portman's role as Alice. It's one of my favorite movies -- it's interesting, in not being a straightforward romance and with despicable characters.

I know I mentioned it before, but I'd love to see Rachel in Atonement in Keira Knightley's role as Cecilia. Rachel needs to do more period movies!

i agree with rukia that natalie's role in closer should have went to rachel. i mean, i like natalie too (but not as much as i like rachel) but i just thought that if rachel did natalie's role, i think she could have done much better than natalie.

jessica alba's role in fantastic four as the invisible woman should have went to rachel. i mean, we haven't seen rachel in an action-adventure/fantasy themed movie right? so i think it would be cool if rachel played the role of the invisible woman.

she should have done anne hathaway's role too in rachel getting married. i strongly believe that she would have done much better than anne hathaway in that role.

I'm glad that Rachel didn't get Jessica Alba's role in Fantastic Four. I've seen bits and parts of it, and it was embarrassingly cheesy beyond words. Glad Rachel wasn't part of that movie. Anyway, we fans have Sherlock Holmes coming up soon! I'd count that as an action-adventure movie.

I do agree with you about Rachel Getting Married. I thought Anne Hathaway was fantastic in it though, but it's the type of meaty, complex dramatic role that I'd love to see Rachel in.

I'd love to see Rachel in Naomi Watts' role in 21 Grams -- a gritty and compelling performance. She'd get to act opposite Sean Penn, which I'd love to see one day. Rachel's been in mostly light, fluffy (albeit good) roles; I'd love to see her in darker, more complex, challenging roles.

i just thought what if rachel got the role of selby in the film monster opposite charlize theron? i mean, when i saw the movie, i was impressed by christina's performance. but i'm just wondering what if rachel did that role? i think she would do great.

and yes, i agree, she should have played anne hathaway's role in the devil wears prada! i was actually surprised and a got a bit sad on why did she turn down the role. i mean, hello??? she would have been able to work with meryl streep.

I've been watching the trailers for 500 Days of Summer and Away We Go. I haven't seen any of these movies yet, but they look really good. I would love for Rachel to be in quirky rom coms like these.

I saw this thread started over on the IMDB boards for Rachel and thought it was interesting. Credit to StJuno over at IMDB!!

I took the directions from StJuno:
