When the clock turns back four months for all of the Heroes, Nathan pays a terrible cost for his heroic actions. While Peter survives his detonation over New York City, the Company "bags" him as a threat to the world, eventually leading to violent confrontation with Elle and the Haitian. D.L. makes the ultimate sacrifice for Niki and Micah. Maya horrifically manifests her dark powers for the first time, driving her and Alejandro to America for help. A mysterious, yet familiar face is introduced.

2x09 - Cautionary Tales
Air Date: 11/19/07

Convinced that the Company is close to finding them, H.R.G. prepares the family to run -- but Claire has other ideas. Meanwhile, Hiro returns from the past and learns of his father's death. Grief-stricken, he flings himself into past and makes a stunning personal discovery. After a charged first encounter with Elle, Suresh makes a decision that could change lives. Meanwhile, Matt struggles with his expanding mental abilities and Maya and Alejandro's relationship is tested as they travel with Sylar. Peter meets someone who could unlock his past.

Elle is an operative for The Company - the shady group that bags and tags heroes - and will first pop up in the Oct. 22 episode in Ireland, where she’s willing to kill in order to locate Peter. “Elle is capable of heinous things and manipulates her power to no end - it brings her a lot of pleasure, ” Bell says. “Unlike the other heroes, she’s been living with special abilities her entire life and never had a childhood. She was exploited by her parents and trained like an animal - so she’s kind of a misfit and a bit of a lunatic.”

No worries Mars fans. Kring promises to take full advantage of Bell’s trademark humor and sass. “The character is quippy and flirty, and Kristen plays her in a very sympathetic way,” Kring says. “But make no mistake: Elle will be a cautionary tale to all our other heroes. This is what can happen if you live with these powers too long.”

Question: Can you give us any more scoop on Kristen Bell's character on Heroes? Like, which of the actors she'll be filming with? — Karen
Ausiello: First off, let me say how much it sucks that I failed to connect with my BFF at the Emmys. We were like two beautifully coiffed ships passing in the night. Luckily, I did catch up with her costar Jack Coleman (HRG), who revealed that he would be shooting his first scene with Bell the morning after the Emmys — and we're talking the wee hours of the morning. His call time was 7 am. Of course he had it better than Bell, who was due at work at 5 am! That probably explains why she skipped the after-party circuit.

++ Bell will be introduced in the fifth episode on the season as Elle, a 20-something who's lived with her power her entire life (it's rumored to involve electricity and confirmed to manifest itself in either productive or destructive ways, depending on what she wants to accomplish). The other heroes will scratch their heads in puzzlement when they cross paths with her.

"She's a cautionary tale to all of other characters: what could happen to you if you live with this for a long time and how it messes with you," Kring says. "Elle's a little off-kilter and plays by her own rules. She's not very socially adept, she's a bit of a loose cannon, a little inappropriate - a little flirty at the wrong times - a little quick to anger."

Bell says the best way to describe Elle, is that "she's just a vixen."

If you did the "Electric Slide" with me and still don’t get it, I will tell you that Kristen’s power is electricity. I’m also hearing that Kristen might be doing some kind of scene with Masi/Hiro in the past, but honestly, that makes no sense whatsoever to me based on everything else I’ve heard.

++ What can you tell us about your role?
[Elle] comes in with a bang. She's a bit of a criminal in the beginning. I'm not even sure if they know whether she's going to be bad or good. She has a link to H.R.G. and Peter. She becomes integral to the mystery on the show.

Bell: I think I'm doing 13 as of now.

Is it possible that could be extended?
Bell: I don't know. Technically, I'm on for the first half of the season, but who knows?

Anything you can tell me about your character Elle that wasn't in the press release? [We know that Elle has ties to the supposed death of Peter, H.R.G.'s past and Claire's future.]
Bell: I know a a lot. I think I know everything. But I think the only things that are allowed to be [out there] are what was in the press release. It's going to be a really, really fun character — that much I can tell you.

There's buzz that you might be the show's new baddie since Zachary will be taking off to do Star Trek.
Bell: That is a possibility. It's going to be fun for me to see where she goes. I kind of hope so. It would be really nice to play the bad guy.

That would be awesome

and yeah, I'm very curious about this criminal act she performs when she firsts arrive.. her motives for it are going to have to be quite ambiguous if we don't know if she's good or bad. If it was a mass murder or something I think we'd know she wasn't a good guy
