Couples Retreat
Kristen Bell, Kristin Davis and Malin Akerman are signing up for "Couples Retreat," a Jon Favreau-scripted and Peter Billingsley-directed comedy for Universal.

The story revolves around four couples who go to a tropical island resort, with one couple working on their marriage and the others sucked into the resort's couples therapy. Vince Vaughn, Jon Favreau, Jason Bateman and Faizon Love are the men.

Bell is playing Bateman's wife, Davis plays Favreau's wife, and Akerman plays Vaughn's.

Scott Stuber is producing.

The movie will shoot in Bora Bora and Los Angeles.

And now we know for sure they wrapped the day before whenever she filmed Ferguson, heh. And they are all from Chicago then.. so what's happening with all the scenes shot in L.A? Are they just pretending it's Chicago?

well why didn't they just film in Chicago then? i would think that would be easier than to make the sets and everything.. or why not just have them be from LA?

Sometimes it's easier with the costs to film in one location and pretend it's somewhere else. They probably already have sets that look like Chicago from previous movies etc... and I'm sure very recently I heard that Polanski had filmed a movie in Paris and pretended it was NY or something like that.

True, just seems strange that they bothered to go to Chicago to shoot the airport scene, they could have done that here too.. and if they shot some of the Bora Bora stuff in L.A too it just seems like they're being really cheap

I do think they were cheap. They shot a bit in Bora Bora and Chicago and the rest in LA pretending it was the former.
