Definitely, & I think that it won't take Maya long to realize that that kind of relationship is a lot better than one filled with promises that can't be guaranteed

^ Yes! Shawn knew how it felt when people made him promises that they didn't follow through on, so he made sure she knew that he would do everything he could to make sure she would never feel that way.

Yep, & from the little that we got to see, he definitely was giving her a much better child/teen hood than Chet had given him

^ Yes. We may not have gotten to see much of Shawn's relationhip with Chet, but we did get to see how he carried those feelings of abandonment with him. I didn't need to see the dynamic between Shawn and Maya to know that he would always try his best to give her the best life he could.
