Yeah, because Jack's mom left Chet and took Jack with her. And we all know Shawn's abandonment issues. He probably felt abandoned again by his own brother.

No, neither do I. Both he and Jack were young and couldn't really do anything about their parents splitting up and not making contact. It's not their fault. The important thing is that they reconnected.
