I think they knew that all Smackle wanted to do was to win the debate, that she hadn't meant to hurt them when she befriended them and she asked for their help. They wouldn't have been open to a friendship with Smackle if they were really hurt by her actions, and if they thought that she was only going to use them.

^ That's true. I think Riley and Maya might have been upset if Smackle's actions had hurt them, but since they didn't, they let it go.

Do you think Smackle came straight out and told them the truth, or would she have been a little sneaky about her intentions?

Hmm, I imagine that most of the time, Smackle would be able to figure out what they were up to, but eventually they might get it right

^ Yes, indeed. I think Smackle's guard would have to be down for her, or she has to be distracted for her not to realize that Riley and Maya are looking for a reaction from her.

^ I think so too. Smackle would recognize when someone is looking for a reaction, and she would mess up the experiment just to prove how smart she is.
