^ I think that's all Cory wanted. He wanted her to take a shot and learn from those attempts. It seemed very important to him that she learned something from his lessons, even if she didn't quite get the right answers.

He definitely wanted her to learn, but he knew by what he had learned from Mr Feeny, that he can teach her about way more important things than the usual school stuff, so it wasn't the most important thing if she didn't always take all the academic things on board

^ Exactly. Cory knew that the most important lessons that he could teach his students weren't necessarily going to come from a book. The life lessons that he taught them would be the lessons that would stick with them. I always got the impression that Cory was happy when Maya picked up those lessons. And when it came to the textbook knowledge that she had to show that she understood, I think he recognized when she got the main idea behind the material. And if he thought that she didn't, he found another way to teach her. =)

Aw, that was such a sweet moment. He knew how tough that day was for her, and he made sure she knew that he was there for her.

^ I think so too. She may have put on a brave face and told him that she was okay, but I think he knew that there was part of her that wasn't okay. It was his way of letting her know that he was there for her, and she did seem to appreciate that.

& I expect that she knew that that wasn't the end of it, one of the Matthews was gonna get involved & try to help, even if she did say it was okay

^ That is true. I think Maya telling Cory that she was okay was her way of telling him that she knew that there was going to be a Matthews intervention at some point, and that she was ready for it. She just didn't want to tell the whole class all about her home life.
