L: You're a great artist, Maya.
Z: Well, he lookin' at you now.
L: You have a real talent. And I want you to be able to get better and share it with people.
Z: Now they're just lookin' at each other and not sayin' nothin'. Are they saying anything? No? Well, I wonder that they're thinkin'.
L: I don't want them to take away your art class, Maya.

M: Oh. (realizing Lucas' thoughts about her) Oh.

[Maya grins, and Lucas holds his hand over his face, clearly knowing what's coming]
M: [walks slowly up to them] What?
C: [turns to Maya] Huh-huuurrr!
M: Oh.
[turns Cletus back towards Lucas, and adjusts him to be eye to eye to Lucas. She walks over to Lucas to do the same with him]
M: What?
C: [in Lucas' face] Huh-huuuurrrrrr!
M: I know it's early, but my life is complete.

M: It's been bad enough that I've been keeping this secret from Riley all this time.
L: What secret?
M: You guys are so much alike. I thought you were just like brother and sister too.
L: Why?
M: You're at your best when you're just talking to each other. Looking out for each other. That's what I believed, but I kept it a secret. And now the secret's out, so I don't have to carry it around with me anymore. I just don't wanna have any more secrets from her.
L: So you *don't* make fun of me because you like me?
M: I'm just gonna watch this fire.
L: Maya, why do you make fun of me?
M: Because you're easy to make fun of!
L: Okay, then stop!
M: Because you're a huckleberry. Because you're a Ranger Rick.
L: Would you stop?
M: Look, if I had feelings for you, don't you think I'd just come right out and say it? Well, I don't, so what I do say is "har-harr"
[Lucas holds her face and leans in to kiss her]
M: [whispering] Why did you do that?
L: I don't know, I just wanted you to stop! Please don't tell my sister.
M: You couldn't think of another way to stop me?
L: Not at the time, no! I'm sorry?
M: You don't have to be sorry, Huckleberry. Of course I like you. You're a good guy. If you got hurt, I don't know what I would have done.

L: I need to talk to both of you. You are gentle. But when I first met you, I was scared of you. I never told you that. You wouldn't think that someone could be scared of you, but I was. And you... you were always scared of me! You gave me nightmares from the day I first looked at you. Then when I found out I was gonna have a chance with you, well... that was about the scariest moment of my life. Anyway, I, uh... I want you to know that you're both an important part of my growing up. I wouldn't be who I am today without either one of you. So, thank you. But you guys are nothing... compared to Riley and Maya.

[Maya just looks at him for a moment, then she suddenly pours her smoothie over his head. She proceeds to pour his smoothie over his head as well]
L: Actually, it looks kinda like this. The miracle of life.

L: [laughs] Yeah, I've noticed. I don't think you can be pushed into something this important anyway. Even by Riley.
M: Yeah, Joan of Arc thought that she had a voice in her head.
L: [laughs again] Yeah. Look, don't expect it to be big, loud and obvious. For me, most of what I believe, comes to me when it's quiet.
M: Yeah? I don't get a lot of quiet. What do you do?
L: I don't know. You just... you just listen.

M: But how's my hand supposed to get to the beeker?
L: You know what, let's just move the beeker to the very edge of the desk so you don't even have to lean forward.
M: I have to put this in that?
L: That's it.
M: It's too much!
