I am sure their first kiss, would be something they thought about for awhile, and finally were ready to take that step.

^ I imagine two different scenarios that lead to their first kiss. I can see a moment where one of them just grabs the other and plants one on them in a moment of spontaneity.

I can see a build-up to a moment where the air is charged around them, and they both know that they are going to kiss...so they slowly lean into it and it's a tender moment.

I think it would depend on the moment.

So do I! There's just something so much fun to expecting things to go a certain way...but then something completely different but equally exciting happens on-screen instead.

^ Yeah.

I've always imagined that their first kiss would happen during their senior year of high school or sometime during their college/university years. Like I said, they were definitely one of those low simmer ships and I thought that that simmer would boil over when they were older. Unfortunately, the show didn't last that long.

^ The fact that there are missing moments -- the 'what could have been's, the next significant moment -- that didn't happen makes me sad.

Right? And even if things didn't turn out the way I imagined, I was at least hoping for a little more from them before the show ended.

^ 'Unfinished' -- that's a good word for how they felt to me. I've watched enough shows to know that a triangle is never really resolved until the series finale airs. I will always wonder when and how TPTB were going to come back to Lucas and Maya.

That word does sum them up pretty well....but in a way, I'm just so sure that they would have got together down the line, that it almost feels canon

In my mind they are totally cannon. There is no way they were not coming back to them eventually.
