^ I agree. Shawn seemed to keep his heart guarded with everyone, but he let Mr. Turner in and seeing him in the hospital like that hit him hard.

^ I think so too. When Mr. Turner chose to become Shawn's guardian, I think Shawn let himself believe that he would always have him in his life. Then the accident happened, and he realized that he came very close to losing him.

I loved the evolution of Shawn and Turner's relationship. I think they both gave each other something the other needed.

^ I agree. There was a moment in the season two finale where Miss Tompkins kind of gave Mr. Turner an ultimatum about their relationship. She wanted him to give her some indication that their relationship would get to the marriage and kids point, but he couldn't commit to that...but by the end of the episode, Mr. Turner had committed to being Shawn's guardian. It said something that Mr. Turner didn't even hesitate to step in and help Shawn when he needed it.

Right! He may have not been ready to commit to her, but he was ready to commit to taking care of Shawn.

It was quite important because I think Shawn had taken him for granted a little up to that point, I bet he never did again after that

^ That's right. Shawn knew how quickly people could come in and out of his life. After that scare, I get the sense that he definitely made sure to let Mr. Turner know how important he was to him.


And not even Mr. Feeny's words to Mr. Turner that he be careful when he mixed the school life with the home life kept him from taking on the role.

Turner had made his decision - & I think on some level he doubted if it was the right one - but there was just no changing his mind. He had to give this kid a shot of a better life

I loved that he made that decision. It was a scary one, but a good one.

^ Yes! Mr. Turner may have been around teenagers at school, but that didn't necessarily mean he could take on the guardianship of one of them. He took a huge chance when he made that decision...and I think it was definitely the right and best decision he ever made.


That's true. I think Mr. Turner definitely worried about getting so close to Shawn and mixing their professional and personal lives, but like you said, he had to give him a shot.
