^ Totally! Even though I loved Mr. Feeny, I also love that TPTB shook things up and brought on Mr. Turner. He brought a different energy to the show.

^ I agree. It sometime seemed like our kids were so used to Mr. Feeny that they didn't always properly grasp his lessons. Mr. Turner had a way of teaching that drew the kids in. It was fun to watch them so engaged in Mr. Turner's lessons. =p

That is one of my favorite Feeny/Turner moments.

^ He was just old-school. Do you remember what happened at the end of the episode? Did Mr. Feeny reconsider his opinion on Mr. Turner's 'radical' teaching style? Did Mr. Turner tell his students that he wouldn't give them a test on the book, but he gave them the test anyway?

^ It's a blank for me too. I have a feeling that Mr. Turner tried to give his students a test on the book (maybe to prove Mr. Feeny wrong), and his students were upset by that, since he told them that he wouldn't give them a test. I think that was the episode where the students went on strike and walked out of Mr. Turner's classroom, so Mr. Turner and Mr. Feeny had to get creative to get them back to class.

That sounds familiar, I do remember the students going on strike because they felt betrayed by Turner when he did try to test them

^ Yeah. We got Mr. Turner/Mr. Feeny moments...

Quote:
Mr. Feeny: You know, you seem amused by this display of defiance, Mr. Turner.
Mr. Turner: Oh, I am. I gotta say 'cause if I had done to me what I did to them, then I'd have done the same thing to me that they did.
Mr. Feeny: Go to the board and diagram that sentence.
Mr. Turner: I can't.

Cory/Mr. Turner/Shawn moments...

Quote:
Mr. Turner: All right, class. In "The Grapes of Wrath," we see that the struggle to organize, to get justice for the migrant farm workers, was long and difficult. Heads were broken. People were killed. A lot of blood.
Shawn: Sounds like bingo night in my trailer park.
Quote:
Mr. Turner: [to Cory and Shawn] You're just kids. You're in school. Your parents make you lunch. You're not a migrant farm worker picking grapes. You're just kids. You sleep on sheets with little dinosaurs.
Cory Matthews: Rocket ships.

and one of my favorite Mr. Turner quotes...

Quote:
Mr. Turner: Hi, I'm Jonathan Turner, Cory's English teacher.
Amy: [sees his motorcycle helmet] You wear a helmet?
Mr. Turner: I fall off the desk a lot.

I call that a great Mr. Turner episode.

That last line is so good!

Looking back, it was a big ep for him, he seemed to be in a lot of scenes

^ It is awesome!

You're right about that. I think it is one of his best episodes.

^ I agree. I'm thinking that that episode cemented Mr. Turner's role as a fantastic teacher and mentor to Cory and his friends.

I think so too, & if any of the audience hadn't already taken to him, I bet they did after that

^ I have no doubt about that. I will always remember how he explains to Cory and Shawn why their strike doesn't compare to what the migrant farm workers in The Grapes of Wrath have to deal with. That is definitely a 'Feeny' moment for Mr. Turner.
