It was something that could have taught them both a lot, Maya needed to learn to not protect Riley so much, & that would have allowed Riley to grow as a person - but also made their friendship more balanced

^ That's a great point. That's why it always makes me sad that we didn't get to see Riley and Maya's friendship grow and change over the course of a few more years.

^ I think so too. The more they grow and the more experiences they have, the more they will learn about themselves and each other.

I would like to see one more season for these two. I ship them romantically/platonically. It didn't matter how the show ends, these two are the center of the show. I said what I said. I just would like to see them grow more. They were just tiny freshman being thrown into high school.

^ Exactly. It feels like there were so many moments that we didn't get to see. We needed to see them a little older and wiser. I wanted to see how much their friendship would have changed and stayed the same.

I wanted that too, they had come so far already, but there was still so much more of the world for them to meet

^ I agree. We only got to see a brief glimpses of who they were and the friendship/bond that they had. They still had so many years left to grow together. I wish we had gotten to see it just a little while longer.

^ Yeah. I don't think I will ever be able to say goodbye to Riley and Maya's journeys. I want to see what they will be like when they're old and grey.

I love that Maya is willing to give Riley the cold, hard truth.

I do wonder though...Maya doesn't like seeing Riley hurt, so do you think she would be able to follow through on that promise?

^ Oh, yes. I think Maya would find a way to give Riley the cold, hard truth, but she would soften the blow as much as she could.

I kinda see it differently, I think that she'd rather protect Riley as much as she could, instead of getting her to see the truth... that was definitely something that needed to change in their relationship as they get older imo.

It would have to change at some point. As much as I loved it when Maya would make every effort to keep Riley in a happy bubble as much as she could, there will come a time where Riley will have to accept that bad and/or sad things happen and where Maya will have to learn to let Riley learn some of life's harsh truths and deal with them in her own way. It will be an important part of growing up for of them.

Yeah, I do think that everyone sheltered Riley too much sometimes, & that was definitely a storyline that would have come up if the show had continued imo
