I do too, but I do have some issues with that ep too... I mean, the rest of the year she didn't do anything to achieve being a cheerleader, she just threw all her effort into it in that one week, & that's not going to work for most things

I see your point. I wish TPTB had laid more groundwork for Riley wanting to be a cheerleader leading up to that episode. The storyline would have flowed better if we got to see that that was something that she really wanted.

Yeah, it's just one of those things where you can't fit what the writers were trying to say into one ep. I mean, I guess the lesson there was 'never give up', but we literally never saw Riley working on her cheerleading either before or after that episode, so it falls kinda flat

^ I agree. I remember watching the episode and wondering if I somehow missed that Riley wanted to be a cheerleader. I wish TPTB had dropped more hints leading up to the episode.

I also wish TPTB had shown us Riley continuing to push through any obstacles with her goal to be a cheerleader.

Me too, with the message that they wanted to get across, they should have made that a bigger arc spanning across a few episodes - it wouldn't have to be huge, but every now & then she could just mention how she had been working on her cheerleading

^ That totally would have worked. I probably would have missed the breadcrumbs about Riley wanting to be a cheerleader, but at least it wouldn't have felt like a complete surprise when she showed up determined to be a cheerleader.

Yeah, & it would have given that storyline a lot more weight, to know that she had put in the time & effort to get what she wanted, & had really earned it

^ Exactly. I'm actually surprised that TPTB didn't take that route with the 'Riley wants to be a cheerleader' storyline. Riley has always struck me as the kind of person who give it her all when she finds something that interests her. And considering how hard she tried to become a cheerleader, you would think that she would be talking everyone's ear off about how much she wanted it.
