I think that Eric knew what kind of thing Jack was doing, but just not that he was that specific guy from that specific company he was going to meet.

This is Eric, I just don't think he'll ever let any of his friends fully drift away

There was a moment when Eric was talking about the guy at the evil company. I thought he seemed to confirm that he knew that it was Jack that he was supposed to be meeting. I guess I'm viewing that scene differently.

He's all about keeping his friends. He would never let them drift away too far.

I got that sense as well. He knew that he shouldn't be part of the evil company, but something kept him there. He needed Eric's influence to clear the black thoughts.

I forgot about that scene.
