^ That's right. Maya didn't really have the best impression of Shawn. All she knew was what Riley told her, that Shawn didn't connect with her when he came for visits. Of the foursome, I think she seemed to need more time to get there, to see their similarities.

^ I love that! In that moment, it hit me that Riley and Maya were the new Cory and Shawn. Cory and Riley bury their hurt when something upsets them...but Shawn and Maya are so in-your-face and they take on their friends' battles because they can handle them.

^ Could you explain what you mean? It's 2 AM, and I'm not quite getting it.
  I like mixing up the father-daughter pairings (i.e. Cory/Maya and Shawn/Riley). I can imagine them needing advice on their father or their daughter, and going to their daughter or father's best friend for insight.  __________________

Cory and Riley have had fairly happy, common lives. Pain can be more startling. Shawn and Maya had it harder, pain is familiar, they've developed mechanisms...

^ Well said! I would have noticed those similarities if I had actually watched the series when it premiered. Because I had to catch up, I was spoiled on some things, so it kind of took the fun out of making those connections on my own.
