Oh I know that. But where my mom and stepdad are concerned, they usually just get me a gift then start focusing on my stepdad's birthday, which is a couple of days after mine. I just meant that it'll be another day to them, but I am thinking about going to my in-laws since this is my first birthday since James and I got together.

I like the way y'all think! I just don't want them to think they have to get me something or are obligated to spend time with me just because James isn't here. But y'all are right, whenever I'm around his parents, I do feel a lot more connected to him.

I doubt they'll feel obligated. You're old enough anyway to completely understand that you don't need gifts. You just want to be around people who you like and who care that it's your special day.

Is it weird if I really hope I get cake? I like cake. But only birthday cake.

Seriously though, I hope it will do me some good to be around people that are especially connected to James and aren't spending the whole day looking on to the next birthday.

I swear, when we first started dating, I told James that if he had his birthday in July or August, we were changing it.

These next few weeks are gonna be craaazy for me.
