Oh the accusations are still there. I keep reading he and Katie went to Perez Hilton to destroy the poor poor Isiah.

I also keep hearing he has bashed the show and his stories repeatedly. When TR fans ask for proof of that, of course there never is any. They never remember where they read it, and never have time to look, or my favorite is TR had his co-stars speak out for him and he's the one who instructed them to do it.

Then there are the jokes about TR being Mark's sugar daddy as if there was no way Mark could like TR for himself.

The constant jokes about the age difference comes off as hypocritical because, in this business, there are so many people with people half their age, but since they are straight, it comes off looking ok. Hugh Heffner is considered cool for dating firls who could be his grand-daughters, but TR is considered a predator.

Yes wanderer, I was talking about Henry. I haven't watched ATWT in a long while, but I did love him a lot.

Mondler survived because the writers wouldn't listen to the critics and the shallow fans, and the fans grew to love them.

Gizzie was gaining a lot of fans too by the time they ended. In fact, many critics, including the official GA magazine, pointed out that while Gizzie was hated by mostly everyone at first, they had gained a pretty huge fanbase by the end.

I remember a lot of former haters falling in love with them after George declared his love. I have two friends who used to hate them and started loving them after that moment.

If Shonda had stick with it, I am sure the number of fans would just have continued to grow, but she gave up very fast.

The critics never really accepted Mondler though. Even very recently, I have read journalists and critics point to Mondler as the jump the shark moment in Friends, the couple thta killed friends. In fact, one newspaper claimed the fans NEVER accepted them and they never even came close to RR,

It's absolutely untrue as Mondler had many fans but some critics still deny that.

I watched Can't buy me love so yeah I do remember PD as th cute geeky guy.

You know looking at those photos of TR, especially those of him in a tux, I find him absolutely gorgeous.

He might not be the conventional hunk, but he is a cutie for sure.

Wanderer, I find it funny so many people found George cuter than McSteamy and McDreamy. There was something in a site I go to, and George also won the best-loooking guy there.

It seems there are many people who do find him good-looking despite what the critics think.

Speaking of PD, I had a dream about McDreamy(I know ) last night after watching the last few episodes of season 2. I've really started to appreciate MerDer recently. Anyway, now that I think about it, McDreamy is like an older more experienced version of George. And George in the later seasons seemed to grow into himself...becoming more confident, excellent in his field of trauma, and knew what he wanted in life and pursued it.

I'm glad you did. I always enjoyed MerDer, not enough to continue watching for them though. I just always loved their chemistry and love for each other.

Thinking back about it, unlike Mark and Alex, Derek has always been nice with George, and he told Bailey he was a geek in high school (I think a joke back to PD's early days), and I loved how he told George he wasn't going anywhere in the finale. He was so tender with him.

So yes, Derek does make me think of an older George. He's probably the one guy I like on the show now that my beloved George and Denny are dead, though he has his bad moments.

I agree. George grew a lot, and he was finally showing his amazing potential as a doctor, the one we saw as early as the elevator surgery in season 2.

He finally started to believe in himself like Owen and Burke did.

Hey, Gwen. Thanks for replying I knew he used to smoke, but didn't know how recently he had quit. In fact, I never knew that JC smokes, or did he quit as well? Either way, good for T.R. for quitting! It's a hard addiction to break.

I never knew that about Mondler. I always liked them, so go figure Sounds like Gizzie... Except the writers on Friends were smart and didn't give in to the shallow people - that's where Grey's Anatomy went wrong. Pfft, everyone hated Mondler, eh? Everyone I've met that likes Friends likes Mondler.

Apparently two guys being together with an almost 15 and a half years age difference is just horrible; Amber Tamblyn, who is 24 (may be 25 now), is dating a man 20 years her senior and I haven't heard anything against it.

I'm glad you brought up the Hugh Heffner thing. Did you know that he actually breaks up with them and has them leave the Playboy house when they reach a certain age?

Gwen, I like the way you worded your thoughts on his departure. This line in particular I couldn't agree with more: "Sadly ABC/ Shonda capitulated. Without their support and not having substantial storylines to remind people of his talent the ugly accusations seemed to be tacitly confirmed. TR does need a break from this hysteria and a chance to prove himself."

Cindy, Gwen, great photos! T.R. is very handsome when he's cleaned up and in a suit, but there's always something so appealing about his scruffier look

Agreed. I have a feeling that if you ever met him one of the first sentences out of your mouth would be, "How'd you get that scar?!" Then you would proceed to tell him how he is even more handsome in person and how gorgeous his eyes are

On an off-topic note, my dad and I went to Dubuque, IA to celebrate father's day and, since we go there only a few times a year and live about 60 miles from the nearest mall, we stopped into Borders to pick up a book I've been wanting. I have a strange feeling that some people here may already have the book, but I thought I'd share the cover of it because some of you may be interested: click (Photobucket).

If I met him, I'd probably ramble. I love that scar too, so so hot.

Did he ever talk about how he get it? Gwen?

Where is that first photo from? Who's the guy with him? TR looks so handsome there.

I'm going to need a TR photo library with all those cute photos you guys find.

Oh I nevers aw that Noises off photo before. What's the play about? Is that Peter Gallagher in the back? It looks fun. I wish I could have seen it.

Honestly, I think we would all ramble Hah, poor T.R.... He'd be redder than a tomato from all the compliments he'd be recieving if he met all of us at once!

I found it on Broadwayworld.com. I can't remember his name, but I've seen him before. Might want to look that one up, unless someone on here remembers his name.

Yep, that's Peter! "Noises Off" is about an acting company trying to get ready for a play called "Nothing On." They run into many errors while trying to prepare for the opening night due to so many different script changes and fatigue. In the second act, it's the actual play only about a month later. While the play is happening, the entire cast is engulfed in a love triangle along with many errors with the cast (Tim momentarily takes stage to portray the burglar because Selsdon was nowhere to be found, and somehow Tim, Selsdon and Lloyd [Peter Gallagher; the stage director] all end up on stage doing the same act at once).

T.R. plays Tim Allgood, the company and stage manager. Tim reminded me so much of George with the way he'd word things and would make errors. There's a part where he has to make continuous flower runs for Lloyd because he accidentally keeps handing them off to the wrong woman. In the end, he ends up bringing back a cactus

Go to Google image search and type in T.R. Knight Noises Off and there's a photo of T.R. wearing the burglar costume. I believe I have another photo from the triple burglar scene. I'll look for it later and post it.

I highly recommend getting the book. You get so into it that you forget that it's not really happening before your eyes. To imagine how the real life actors played these actors playing characters is mind boggling. It would have been so wonderful to have seen T.R. play Tim.

I used to hate MerDer, but they've grown on me in the last couple of seasons. I always thought the scene where George and Derek were trapped in the locker room together established George as a young Derek.

For the record, I hated Mondler with a passion. To be fair, I stopped watching Friends before they hooked up, but I watched it in reruns and hated it.

Thanks for the info on Noises Off, Lee. I should read it. I've kind of been itching to get back into theater myself. It's something I used to be really involved in.

Lee, thanks so much for the cover for Noises Off. He looks so young and adorable. It's so nice to see him with his natural hair color. Not that I don't enjoy the dark brunette with blue-tone but the sandy brown gives him a lighter feel.

Does everyone know the significance of Noises Off to his career? He ventured to NYC in 1995 but was met with disappointment from finding little work to losing his agent. He was living on $20 a week and stretching a meal of pasta, canned tuna, and broccoli for three days. Unable to make ends meet he returned to Minneapolis and did theatre at the Guthrie. He fully expected never to come back to Broadway and eventually turning to teaching after five years. His friends in NYC begged him to try out for that play and luckily he won the role after barely scraping enough funds to make the trip to the Big Apple.

His success on the Great White Way led to him having the confidence and resume to audition for on-camera jobs. I'm detecting a pattern with him wherein if he's reached a professional impasse he goes back to his roots to gain strength and revitalizes like a phoenix. This is what makes me love him more. Instead of dwelling on the negativity of the situation he's moving forward quickly and without bashing others. Even the critics are hard-pressed to continue to hate a person who's doing the noblest of thespian medium. Quite a classy exit and is symbolic of his inner fortitude.

I also wonder if there isn't something else up his sleeve. Recall he went to Sundance January 2008 with SO to shop a screenplay. Also he's become friends with Dustin Lance Black, ther Oscar winning screenwriter of Milk. Maybe there's a film around the corner. Strategically he might not want to announce it too soon so as not to look greedy.

BTW, I've spoken so much about TR my friend had a dream about him. He was in a biopic about Van Morrison and we made plans to see it. There was plenty of strange things but there was a scene in his mind he remembers. It was TR as Van singing "Brown-Eyed Girl" on a BBC show.

In a blurb about him attending the Point Foundation awards banquet on October 2007 he claimed one month of being nicotine-free.

Nope, he's never explained it and I've only heard two sets of rumors. Does he not want to divulge or has no interviewer bothered to ask?

IW fans will never be satisfied and have become almost a cult so I don't count them amongst the technically sane set. By and large the media and lay detractors
are content with him being gone and doing theatre. Secretly the Hollywood press may scoff at theatre for being "unsexy" and "unhip" but it wishes not to appear so openly vulgar. The regular haters don't have the same restraint and, honestly, I just laugh. One female lambasted the stage because she's sure it's beneath Robert Pattinson and Shia LaBeouf.

Unfortunately I have personally met Mr. Lavandeira (aka Perez) and he'll jump on any bandwagon to get attention. He wasn't the only one criticizing IW's actions and doubt he was the sole reason for the latter's insincere apologies. Frankly Perez has attacked both TR and Katie viciously on his site. He scrawled "pedo" on TR's pictures because he disapproved of his relationship with Mark while simultaneously gushing over Hayden and Milo. Then he went so low as to fabricate "diva" incidents about Katie and called her mother a "b!tch." Sure that means the three are friends.

Here's more info on Parade. The cast is being filled and here's the pic of his leading lady, Lara Pulver. They all sound so accomplished and now I'm doing accounting to see if I could go.

Playbill News: Pulver, Berresse, d'Amboise and Hoff Will Join Knight in L.A. Parade

That's alright, Pia, we know you don't dislike them because Chandler is "so not hawt." Marie was simply making the point that, in particular, is a bad reason. Personally I'm not fond of Calizona nor Arizona as a character but it's not because I'm prejudiced against lesbians.

I never thought of George as a younger version of Derek. Now that you mention it there's a similar soft-spoken cadence in voice between the two. Now it's so bittersweet to think back at his image in uniform; of him finally graduating to prince-suitor only to die.

Slightly OT. My mom and I have been mulling over adopting a pug. There's till nothing concrete. Long ago I asked permission to name a male "George O'Malley." She agreed. Now it's become shorthand for any male pug. Yesterday she asked a passerby, "Oh what's your George's name?" rather than what's your pug's name?"

Here's a small tribute to TR at afterelton:

Quote:
Speaking of gay actors we'd like to see more of, this week came news that now that T.R.Knight has exited Grey's Anatomy, his first big project is taking over the role of James Bond in the next movie. beat beat I kid! While I would love to see T.R. in a Bond movie, I can't quite see him as Bond. But he has definite possiblities as a Bond boy!

Instead, T.R. is going to play Leo Frank in Alfred Uhry's musical Parade. In case the title inspires images of happy folks tromping up and down streets waving flags and singing, the actual material is much more sober. First produced in 1998, Parade tells the story of Frank, a Jewish man (Knight) living in Georgia in 1913, who is accused of raping and murdering a 13-year-old girl.

Not exactly Mamma Mia!

Bravo, Gwen. I love how you phrased all of this... you put to words that which I could not (not so concisely, anyway)... and all the while, until his official notice, I was still hoping he'd stay and hoping that he/TPTB could fight that media storm and make those critics retract those claws... but w/o that support from TPTB, there was no way. As you said, they had it out for him... and were not going to stop until George was gone

I was pleased to discover that the relationship between Leo Frank and his wife, Lucille, is a pivotal element of Parade. Thus he has a platform to shine in the medium he most treasures.
Thank you for this tidbit, Gwen... I really am going to have to read up on this play... eeek, I'm so bummed I won't be able to go... this is a role I would love to see him in.

It's funny that you wrote this... I was thinking (yesterday) about if he does do Broadway next and if I had the chance to drive to NY to see him and what I would say to him if I met him...? I was trying to come up with a very solid greeting, so as to avoid stuttering (OK, yah... probably not avoidable )... and it's funny b/c that led me back to thinking about our prior conversations about that scar and not knowing where it came from and I had thought about asking him.... it seems to me, he would probably give a nervous laugh nodding down for a second and might possibly turn a few shades of red.. ?? I might be horrified at the idea of embarrassing him so! Anyway... just had to share that.... then I came to the thread to read and saw your comment...

Oh, and I tried to post last night, but was unsuccessful... lost half a dictionary's worth! ha!

That's great, Pia! Did you act?

Marie-- those crazy terrible things you keep reading... they sound like their coming from crazy fans/anti-fans/people posting, not critics/media, right? If so, you may want to refrain from reading the posted comments on some sites, to save your sanity... in certain places I started just ignoring what may have been posted and just posting my own thoughts on George or TR w/o reading others comments, since my time is precious and those comments needlessly stress me out.

Well, I'm off to Google image search to type in T.R. Knight Noises Off and see this photo of T.R. wearing the burglar costume, as per Lee's suggestion

Cindy, you're right. It was just on one site though and my dad sent it to me. US magazine online, never go there. All the haters go there, and they say horrible things about TR and Katie.

In general, I have seen a lot more love for TR than hate.

Katie and TR have very vocal haters, but the majority seems to love them both and most seem to think George leaving is a huge loss for the show.

It's funny you pictured your encounter with TR. I have done that several times in the past. I have this whole speech prepared, LOL. Of course, if I ever do meet him, I'll probably forget it all and just stand there open-mouthed, looking like some fish.

I remember someone saying TR blushed when she gave him a compliment, and the red looked very cute on him. Imagine if he met us all at the same time. He'd go beet red from all the compliments.

I think we might scare him off, LOL.

I'll see if Noises off is available in Canada. I hope so. I really wish I could have seen him in it.

Yes, I knew about his hard days and living off of tuna and tomato soup.

It just shows his strength that he never gives up.

I think that's what Shonda was talking about when she made that comment about his strength.

The way he never lets anything make him give up on his dreams and the way he never becomes bitter and mean about it.

That makes me love him even more.

LOL, I like Robert Pattinson, but TR is much more talented IMO.

You should read the reviews for his role as Dahli.

The critics totally shred his acting apart. It's brutal.

I feel sorry for the guy. Those critics are mean.

Dropping in real fast - Have to write my fifth to last driver's ed assignment & study. Final exam might be next week!

Gwen, I read in an older interview with him about his pre-Grey's days and he talked about that. I never knew about him living off of $20 though; that makes me sad He's truly inspiring - he never gives up on what he wants. He seems to not let anything stop him from accomplishing his dreams and I truly admire him deeply for that.

I agree with what Cindy said about this:

I'll read the article about Parade later and its newest cast members (so excited!), but I did pop in to see Lara Pulver. She is absolutely stunning! Very beautiful woman. She's a great match for T.R. Now I have a few more reasons to envy her

Thanks for posting that bit from AfterElton, Gwen.

You're welcome Cindy, Pia, if you both want the book you could order it from Amazon. It's by Michael Frayne and it was about $14-something.

Pia, were you into acting?

Gwen, I didn't know that was his natural hair color! Looks great on him; I hope he sticks with it and doesn't dye it now that he's done with Grey's. Hey, I asked Red about this a while back and she didn't know, but you wouldn't happen to know what his ethnic background is, would you? I think he might be Irish or something, but I could be wrong.

Cindy - Haha, your comment made me laugh

We'd all do this: We'd all have the classic case of Fan Girl Syndrome.

Some symptoms of this horribly embarrassing medical condition include: dizziness, drooling, fainting, excessive babbling, foaming from the mouth, trembling, cheek pinching, sweating, tackle hugs, thirty compliments at a time and possible pants wetting.

Oh, and we'd all ask at the same time, "How'd you get your scar??!?!!!! "

Poor T.R. He'd be a blushing, flattered, embarrassed mess. But hey, at least he'd remember us and we'd make quite a first impression

Wouldn't it be fun if we could all meet up and go meet him some day?

For some reson, I just saw the cast of Parade. The girl who plays his wife is so pretty. And Cristian Hoff as in Tony-winner Christian Hoff from Jersey Girl? I flove him.

Oh this is a really great cast.

This sounds even more exciting.

Perez is such a jerk. Every star they interviewed was like glad he got punched, LOL

He and Ellen are so cute. My two favorite actors together, yay!

I love how in one photo, he has his arms around her, and in the next, she has hers around him.

I would post those on the Ellen thread, but have no idea how.

Is that Chandra's little girl? She's beautiful.

TR is so gorgeous. I know he is suppose to be the ordinary-looking guy, but IMO he is way too gorgeous for that.

Gwen, how is your mom? Better, I hope.

Lee, good luck with the driving exam.

Over on BuddyTV, they have another poll on George. I swear, they have about 7 different on him. It,s under the article called TR speaks out on his exit. It's the same interview Aussiello printed weeks ago, so they're late. They ask how people feel about George's exit now that it has been confirmed for a while. Go vote.

I think that's apart of his appeal. What can I say? We Midwesterners do it right

Thank you! I have still have to go summarize a DVD segment about organ donation and persuading drivers to become one. Sounds enlightening, doesn't it?

For those of you asking, I did do a lot of acting. I actually started out as a writer. The acting part was accidental. I took a class to do something different and to get over my shyness. But it's what I ended up doing the most. I even ended up teaching it a bit. But I also wrote, directed, and other things.

Gwen, thanks for the info on the other actors in the show. The woman playing his wife is very pretty. On a superficial note, she and TR will look great together, IMO.

Lee, thanks for the pics. Seeing TR with a kid always makes me want to have some myself. Good luck with Driver's Ed.
