I just want this to be about George. As a huge Gizzie fan, of course I want Izzie to cry and I want respect to be shown to their love and connection.

But I also love the friendships he had with Meredith and Bailey, and I want that honoured too.

I want them to remember Lexie used to love him.

I want his mom and his brothers to be there.

I want Joe to be there and Olivia and everyone who has ever cared about George.

I want this to be an homage to George.

This characetr more than deserves it after all the humiliation and heartache he went through the last two seasons.

And the George fans deserve a chance to say goodbye.

But I don't trust Shonda. She'll ruin his funeral just like she ruined every story George has had and everone of his friendships.

I'm still mad as hell she killed him.

Of all those characters, George worked so hard to make it and he deserved to make it.

In regards to how it will all be handled... I do agree that it will be very Izzie focused... but I still hold out for real grieving and real honor to George... I guess maybe my glass is still a bit on the half-full side, then... ?

I am going to watch and see.... and hope with the small strand of hope that I have left....

mostly b/c I got two more seconds to log on and I wanted to add more to my post...

So, I am still hoping a teeny bit for honor for George... for who he was and for his relationships and what they meant.

That being said, my expectations are not too high.

And if I am displeased w/ how it is handled... if George is not honored... if his significance to everyone, but most notably Izzie, Mer, Alex, Bailey is not honored well... well then I will be gone (from watching Greys).

The other thing is... if they don't honor who Izzie is, in the beginning of next season... I love Izzie so and I feel she will be changed significantly... I am awaiting what those changes will be.

I am curious to see an Alex w/ no George... curious, but not in a good way. Even when the two of them "hated" each other... they were always significant to one another, IMO. Alex w/o George there... doesn't even make sense to me... ?

Anyway, that's my 2 cents for now.

Oh yes, I forgot Alex but I definitely want Alex to be affected. I always thought he and George likmed each other deep down and I would be so upset if he just shrugged it off.

yeah I am not sure on Alex.. yeah he might be sad because of izzie but for him as a person yeah not really expecting much from him.

I think Alex might be sad for Izzie, but if Izzie takes a long time to get over George's death, Alex might be frustrated or feel like he's second to her "dead boyfriends" Just sayin...

I still don't get what the whole this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship between Alex and george came from.

Why even do that if George was going to die?

Alex and George always had this frenemy thing going on. The thing with Izzie brought them closer, (but not that close) as one might expect. They're the two most important men in Izzie's life.

I think Alex would be affected but he might hide it especially if Izzie's reaction is immense.

I do want George to be honored in some way. Okay Shonda, you totally pushed him off to the side for the whole season the funeral/honor would have to be the LAST thing you do *rolls eyes* otherwise characters mentioning in passing wouldn't be that big of a deal. I feel like this is how she'd have to look at it to make it happen.

Gwen, the way you played out the premiere sounds exactly like how I imagined it. Nobody will attend George's funeral because they'll have excuses. To be honest, I don't think they'll ever bring George up after the first two or three episodes again. Izzie may think of him once in a while, but that will probably only be mentioned briefly in one episode three years down the road.

Really, I don't think there will be a funeral period. Why honor a "minor" character anyway?

I agree with you. It's so depressing how they're going about with this; George is one of the original four interns - he's one of the Fab 5, one of the ORIGINAL main characters.

Know what they should have done at some point in the show? Had another scene somewhat like this one (maybe not set up like that because it'd be far too suggestive for ABC, but he could have been dressing or something and someone had barged back without knocking), only they could have had him in jeans that were worn that low instead of sweatpants. Would it have been pushing if his jeans and belt were undone as well?

I know it will be George. George doesn't get miracles. Everyone else does, but not George. And like Gwen and Cindy said, he's a minor character to them.

They probably feel like some of the fans do. We George fans should just get over it. Sure George was a nice part of the show, but he isn't Meredith or Izzie or Alex, one of the real stars you know.

He was just the nice guy who made you laugh at times, but was never meant to be the lead.

That's how the show feels and how some fans feel, and why they're so upset about us George fans whining so much about George of all people.

Izzie will forget him. After all she has Alex and she has other friends. They made sure of to show that this season as everyone but George was by Izzie's side.

Lexie will be the new George even though she hasn't been received all that well by a lot of fans (you should see the number of times she popped up as least favorite character, it's kind of shocking).

Who needs George? They think if they just stop talking about him, we'll just forget them like they thought if we undermined Gizzie's connection at every turn we Gizzie fans would just all forget them.

co star eh? Hmmm..that is weird. Unless George's death spans for a few episodes that could mean we get the priest blessing him or something..maybe talking with some characters and then the actual funeral but that doesn't add up to a lot of episodes. Most interesting this is. But what his other role would be I am unsure. MD won't be getting married at the start of the season would they?
