Oh my god, the cuttest thing happened last night! I was at my cousins house and we were watching episode 1.4 "No Man's Land" and her 3 year old sister was watching it with us. And in the episode Izzie was using George's toothbrush and George came out of the shower and yelled at her asking if she had his tooth brush. Anyway so we were getting ready to go to sleep and we were brushing our teeth and my cousins sister couldn't find her toothbrush so she started running around the house screaming "George did you take my brush teeth". It was so freaking cute I was laughing hysterically for like an hour.
That's a hilarious story. It's so cute that a 3 year-old remembers him and says his name.

The regular posters here are ladies. If you're a guy you're welcomed too. We had a man here named Teddy. He's busy now with his new daughter.

Too cute!!! I love it.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend...Gwen, sounds like you're having a nice time with the interns.

Going back into the hospital tomorrow hopefully, I think I'm having complications. We'll see what they say. I thought it was over, but for a few days it was getting better and better, and then I woke up Saturday morning unable to move, and it hasn't really gotten better. I think maybe a checkup would help ease my mind.

Happy Sunday everyone.

I can't recall any regular male posters ever posting here, but if you are male, you're more than welcome!

I think Jose and Teddy were the only male posters here.

The rest of us are girls.

In fact I don't think many guys post on the GA FF site.

Guys, I'm finally finished my Nick and Tess marathon. I just saw the episode where they left for good

And it reminded me how mad Shonda made me. It was the same thing. Myles left in season 5 and his character was presumed dead. Then Bridie left in season 6, and she and the producers were not getting along at all. They called her the b word and she badmouthed them. Yet they had Nick turn up alive and gave Nick and Tess an amazing happy ending and even had Myles come back to whisk her off. Why couldn't Shonda do the same?

Not let her feelings against TR and Katie cloud her judgment and affect the way the story was told?

They could have had George presumed dead in Afghanistan, then being discovered alive.

Izzie and Alex could have discovered they got married for the wrong reasons (her cancer). They could have ended amicably.

Then Izzie could have decided to go in Afghanistan too to save lives, and she and George could have worked together.

Not have Izzie leave Alex with a note and him sleep with various women and have them end on such an acrimonious note with Alex telling her to leave town and nobody but Meredith caring that Izzie left.

We could have had a few letters or some news from George and Izzie once in a while from the others still there.

It wouldn't seem like the others couldn't care less about two of their own and make them look so callous, and it could have kept the fab 5 alive in spirit.
Th writers and Shonda have made such a mess of the whole thing. Same thing with Burke, having him dump Cristina at the altar like a coward. Do they have to destroy characters when they leave?

Julia, that is such a cute story with your little cousin.

TR's birthday is in 5 days. It would be cool if we could get some photos, maybe of him and some former Grey castmates or him and Lara. It would be great.

I'd cook a cake for him too, but I can't bake, LOL.

Meric, I hope everything is fine with you. I'm pulling for you to get better.

Let us know what is going on.

Gwen, you seem to be having a blast. Really good you can mix business and pleasure. I never heard of Laughlin. I gather it's in Colorado.

Great you have good weather here. Last two weeks have been very warm here in Ottawa, we had girls in bikinis, LOL. In Canada, in March, weird, but the last two days have been colder.

Off to watch a hockey match this afternoon. The season is almost over.

I can't believe winter whizzed by so quickly. Now if I could get rid of this pesky cough, I'll be set.

Oh Meric, I have LOADS of Days spoilers, if you are interested. And days has been reniewed until september 2011. So so so happy!

Meric, hope you feel better. I'll be praying.

Marie, Laughlin is a town two hours south of Vegas where the Colorado River divides NV and AZ. The casinos are built along the river's edge that adds a beauty to your stay. One of my favorite things is to feed the carp in the river. I buy the healthy pellets and drop these little by little until a gathering of carp has assembled. They start to cluster, rock the waves, and slide over each other for food. I make sure I cover a large amount of area but about 15-20 fish congregate and they look like a solid dark blue mass. The ducks and other waterfowl stop to watch at the frenzy. I wait for the fish to disperse and throw the ducks their own grub.

There's a hotel called the Colorado Belle where the motif is a Mississippi steamboat. Only it's on dry land and a moat simulating a river surrounds it. In a stream leading into a large pond are kois. I furnish them pellets too. There's another resort called The Pioneer, which has a tortoise and rabbits scurrying about, where I provide them sustenance.

This time I'm not alone and I was telling the interns how relaxing it is and how important animals can be for attractions. My resort is thinking of purchasing one of the hotels there and for a few they may have a job ready.

Aside from spoiling the animals we caught a few acts and did karaoke. The employees and a few regulars know me and my routine is to sing Shirley Bassey songs. Her most famous one is the theme from "Goldfinger" but my favorite is "History Repeating." I don't sing but SB has a distinctive and melodramatic sound so I can do a little imitation. The interns loved it.

At this point TPTB could care less about organic SLs and everything is engulfed in politics. Even given this mess it would've been better if Izzie had to succumb to her cancer she finally reunited with George in heaven. Many have recommended such a story. Shonda has so upset the A/I shippers that she didn't want to further rub salt in their wounds by admitting blatantly the love of her life is George not Alex. Leaving the situation as is allows for some to abandon the A/I ship and to the hardcore fans give them hope for their "someday." They see no point in appeasing George or Gizzie shippers because she assumed we've all left.

As for Burke TPTB felt the departure would appease the angry masses. What they don't realie most didn't dislike the character but rather IW's behavior and many understood the reasons he had to leave. A simple exit would've sufficed but she had to go for the sensational plot.

Basically Shonda/ABC are robbing Peter to pay Paul and is pleasing no one in the process. The dissolution of the A/I marraige doesn't make the MerDer fans clamor any less for a wedding nor does it make George fans accept his death one iota.

Here's a few things my factory girls may like. This is creative editing where one person splices together George and Cameron from House as if they were on the same show. Looking at this I'm hankering for a TR/Jennifer Morrison pairing on another show or movie. Coincidentally they had to dye their hair a dark brown to play their roles and are now written off their respective series. The song is nice too:

YouTube - George/Cameron: Playing Doctor

Many of us would agree with these two sentiments from Pedro Saeta:

@shondarhimes:

Can't you talk about T. R. Knight too?

Gray's anatomy has lost much of his grace with the departure of George O'Malley. You can bring it back? Do it, if you can...
This is from the actor, Kevin Weisman, better known as Marshall from Alias:

someone on the street today thought I was 'george from Grey's anatomy!' a.ka. TR Knight.. He asked me why I left the show. awkward
No offense to KW or his fans but there's no resemblance between he and TR whatsoever. The former's chin alone could've given you the clue he wasn't TR.

I agree every character exist in the show has been a mess. I think Shonda and Co handled the whole IW, BS, TR and now KH in a bad way. It's not a secret KH has been wanting out for years why couldn't just let her go with TR last year it would been a better exist for her instead they dragged this for so long and now probably no decent closure for Izzie.

No he doesn't look a bit like TR weird for me

I don't see Shonda acknowledging anything bad with the post-it sadly she seems to be dead on it.
Me and Gwen last year in the summer talked about mistake being made in the show and they are being made now .

Meric, hon-- I hope everything's OK... I was saddened to hear you're feeling worse. Sending a your way.

So, I'm knee-deep in studying... got an exam tonight. But I'm not so stressed out this time... it's not a lab practical!

Marie-- the weather here was amazingly warm too... especially Friday & Saturday... it's turned colder again now. We raked the backyard on Saturday... and Friday I cleaned out the garage... we are early w/ the spring clean-up! I love yard work... the fresh air is so great and the kids played out back in the woods, like, all day! They are building a fort w/ the next-door neighbors. We have this great yard, but my kids (Nicole especially) would rather be in the woods! Yesterday we went for a short hike and it was nice. William even walked about half of it, before I had to carry him.... he's not getting any lighter!

Gwen-- your business trip sounds really nice! I know you're working, but I'm sure it feels good to get away for a bit too... soak it up! It think it's great that you and the interns are taking TR's b-day off too!
Hey- he's turning 37? we are only 5 1/2 mos apart!

And if you ask me... this is the downfall of the show. and I don't see it changing.

This seems to be agreed upon across the board too... across all fans When multiple fanbases find it acceptable... even preferable and it was the original direction intended, why not?

Good way to put it, Gwen. But it seriously makes NO SENSE to me But pretty much sums up why the show is FAIL and why I no longer watch. I swear there's nothing but heartbreak and grief for a GA fan. No wonder so many fans are jumping ship.

I loved the George/Cameron video... thanks for posting that. I loved Cameron (most of the time). But felt like she had some of the most inconsistent writing on the show. House seemed to be on a rollercoaster for a bit and seemed to have some big dips. But this season seems better to me. Although, I was sad to see Cameron go. George and Cameron together is an interesting idea... need to think about that one for a bit.

Julia- what a cute story! I can just picture a little girl running around yelling for George to give her toothbrush back! Aww... see, George... everyone loves George!

Wala-- did you see my coloring request? I'm sure you've been busy w/ Uni, though... are you all done w/ your mid-terms? I hope they all went well!

Got to run and study some more....

Friday is TR's birthday and a holiday for Gwen & the interns!
It's going to be a good week!

I hope Meric is better and resting. I'm sending you positive thoughts.

Gwen, you look like you are having a great time, and it makes me want to go discover that city too. I didn't know Shirley Basey, but my dad does. LOL, I would love to see you do karaoke. Maybe we have a future great singer in our midst?

Feeding the carps sound great.

About Izzie, I agree. She should have died or left maybe to work with George in Afghanistan. Yes, it would have angered the AI fans but not more than they are right now.

She gave them false hopes Izzie was coming back and everything was going to be fine when I'm sure she knew there was a big possibility Izzie wouldn't come back.

She did the same with us with the whole someday thing, which is why so many GI fans are still bitter.

She doesn't learn, does she?

And yes, she is pleasing nobody in the end.

And seriously what is her deal with legal marriages? Why do they all fail so miserably? It's enough to want you to never get legally married.

Maybe MerDer are the lucky ones after all.

Did Shonda answer those questions about TR? I am curious. She usually avoids them.

Kevin Weisman? I loved him on Alias, but he looks NOTHING like TR. Just weird.

Wala, I have been watching seasons 1 and 2 of OTH, and the guy who plays Tim is the guy who played half of Kish, the gay couple who just got canned on One life to live.

For the life of me, it seems I had forgotten he was on this show.

OTH to me is an example of show which handles character departures and deaths extremely well and doesn't let down the fans of those characters.

Good luck with the exam, Cindy.

Everything has been good at work, except for this one corrector who seems to just hate my style and corrects it all. It's frustrating because everyone else is telling me what a good job I am doing, but she corrects everything I do. Not sure what to do about it.

The other correctors are fine.

Blah, it's just making work not fun.

That is what I can't stand about Shonda! She always gives false hope. Like for the months before TR left the show she denied all rumors and said that he would be returning. If he was going to leave then just say he is going to leave don't give us hope if there is none. And I don't believe Shonda ever gave Katie a date to come back to work I think that was just a bunch of crap just so people would tune in.

I agree TR and Katie should have died together. They could have done such a cute romantic notebook type thing. Like Izzie could have told Alex "I am going to go visit George" and then they could have both been lying there together and died happily together. That would have been so cute and would have made George's death a little less sad. Or Izzie could have stepped off the elevator and her and George could have walked away together holding hands or something cute like that. The one thing I am actually happy about is that they switched Denny with George at the very last second . I am glad we at least got to see George when the elevator doors opened instead of Denny, we got to at least expirience that last moment with him.

I was back Friday evening and overslept and was late to work. At least, I had some time away and could enjoy a few activities I hadn't done in awhile. Shirley Bassey is my father's favorite singer and I use to hear her singing since I was a child. My vocals aren't as strong her but I've copied her phrasing and her theatricality. I used to perform with a bouffant wig, false eyelashes, glitter dust on my face, nails painted gold and silver, and a faux fur stole. I had no time to prepare. I can't find a footage of her famous performances in the '60s but here's one of her singing "Goldfinger" at the Royal Albert Hall:

YouTube - Shirley Bassey - Goldfinger (Live at Royal Albert Hall)

Sorry about the corrector-or shall I say "overcorrector"-for giving you a difficult time. Just know that you are good at your job and one person's opinion doesn't change that.

Cindy, good luck with your exam. It seems you've been taking so much this semester. I'm glad you had time for much needed spring cleaning and the weather was warm enough for your kids to frolic in the woods.

I'm not taking TR's b-day off because the company can't grant that for the paid employees but the interns get their day of rest. They deserve it. This is one of the hardest internships for their major and they've worked weekends on many occasions.

Wala, good luck on your exams too. Drop in whenever you can. Thanks for coloring that pic it is beautiful. The warm golden tones give it both a feel of an old photograph and a dreamy quality.

Exactly. Plenty of A/I fans thought her dying with George and keeping their marriage in tact while love was still there was the more preferable outcome. It would've satisfied Gizzie fans because they have eternity together. As is Izzie left him, the marriage dissolves in a haze of adultery, and Alex seems to not care. It's just awful to witness. By denying any reunion she's once again caving into extreme subgroups. Yes, there are some viewers who take seriously the rivalry between Alex and George and side with the former. For them Izzie had to forsake her friendship with George in order for Alex to win. Indeed this contingent would've been p---ed had she joined him in heaven. But they don't speak for the majority of the fandom, which she alienates so often. It's as if she decided to drive the car to one side and when she meets resistance she veers it into the opposite direction making for a bumpy ride and thoroughly sickened passengers.

I love the first one too. She could've just thrown her body on George's. His death would've been less sad because now he knows someone loves him and the one person who matters most.

And he looked so beautiful. Prior to this we had a discussion on this board about the cultural imagery/archetype of the prince. I explained that in certain stories there were princes and the lower class males or the servant class. Some were born to the manor (Derek) while others graduated into the role (Mark and Alex) but I truly thought George would forever be the helper male in her eyes. The symbolism of him standing regally erect in his uniform wasn't lost on me. He was finally the prince albeit in death. In one small this did bring closure to his journey.

The biggest irony and insult is that TPTB kept griping TR and Katie bring the ratings down with their constant negativity. Why then do they draw out their stay.

Quote:

With KW's Leno-like chin, smaller eyes, and big forehead there isn't much of a resemblance. Maybe the person was missing George so much he/she assumed anyone with the faintest of similarities was him just for that chance to talk to TR.

More vid. This is a compilation of George's scenes, including the some of the shower scenes, the one where Alex injects him with penicillin, and the hot dog eating contest. Cindy, remember when we mentioned Madly Grey's didn't cap all of the shower scenes. It didn't have the two times Izzie opened the door and looked in and lingered for awhile. If she was simply mad with him for not buying the tampons why bother to yell in unless she wanted a peek at his naked glory? If she had to why not slide the door where he is near to better bark orders? Honestly she got an eyeful.

YouTube - Why I miss Dr. George O'Malley

I have to also say I'm so touched that there's a plethora of these George tributes. He is loved.

I don't follow House religiously but I agree most times she was caring and highly capable but other times she seemed petulant. IMHO the relationship she had with Chase didn't fit and was simply to cash in on their real life romance. The first part and all its logical implications negative and positive would've been a good match with George.

Mainly for me I love the song and it's from the movie, Magnolia, while the whole was problematic there were some lovely moments and I envisioned TR and Jennifer Morrison in a production like this. They both can express longing, aching, and tenderness well and would make a fascinating onscreen couple.

My sister e-mailed me about the recent TR pics. She said he had a different vibe to him and he looked so intense. If she were a producer she would easily cast him in a thriller or an action film. It does make me wonder if it's for preparation.

Gwen that's exactly what I wrote in TWOP Shonda told AI fans on Twitter to hang on and AI are meant to be and now what of course they feel cheated after being given false hope about their ship. What I don't appreciate is Shonda having to lie most of the time like she promised the MD fans that they would get something after Ellen get back and now nothing so far and she's tweeting Ellen has a baby that's why she written light. I wonder next season what will be her excuse for the lack of MD. I know Ellen has a baby now and things changes and all but Meredith has fillers scenes with almost everyone BUT Derek .
I'm almost done with exams BTW

Wala-- the coloring is gorgeous! I wasn't sure it was possible to make that pic more beautiful... you most certainly succeeded! Thank you! Oh, I know your busy @ Uni-- I didn't realize you're still in the thick of exams-- good luck to you!

Gwen- thanks for the Shirley Bassey clip on YT-- I really didn't know who she was. Her singing is very theatrical

That must have been something to see! I should like to see you perform! Do you get nervous at all? Or do you just lose yourself in the performance?
So you are back now... that is good that your time away was refreshing and fun

Gwen- thanks for the good luck wishes on my exam! I'm actually still only taking one class, but it's kind of like 2, as there is a lab. So, lab has it's own exams (2 a semester) and the lecture class has it's own exams (our professor spoils us w/ 4 a semester-- so if we don't do well on one, it doesn't hurt as much). Last night's was a lecture class exam-- those I don't stress about as much. I think I did very well!

WORD on this, Julia! That is one of Shonda's best and brightest moments in the history of the show (IMO) when she decided to have George greet Izzie in that final moment.

Aw... that's too bad you can't take the day off too. I bet your interns are thanking their lucky stars that their internship placement was with you! That is really great of you to reward them like that!

ITA 100%... can't really add to it, as it was perfectly said!

Thanks for the G'OM video... I'm off to watch it.
No worries, Gwen-- I haven't forgot about our capping mission... although I'm going to take from my DVD for better quality. Now that my exam is over, I should have more time for that stuff this week. Got to get going this morning though, as I have extra errands for Owen this morning...

I'll leave you with this series of pics of George's final moment... the first three full capped images (courtesy of Freaky X's LJ) after the elevator doors opened. This is probably like a second or two of time passing, but look at how his expression softens as he sees Izzie...

He looks ah-mazing!
