5x01 & 5x02: "dream a little dream of me"
cristina: a pen trache? Hot!

cristina: army surgeon bad-ass. Did something crazy with a pen on a guy's throat.

cristina: uh, wow, you're not numbed. [he starts staplegunning his leg.]
owen: so?

owen: a damsel in distress. [he picks her up and carries her into the hospital.]

cristina: that's my icicle.
owen: yeah.
cristina: uh, you took out my icicle. I didn't give you permission to do that.
owen: so?

owen: you know, you'd be good in the field. Now you've got this battle scar, you'd fit right in.
cristina: [she laughs.] all right.
owen: i'm serious. You should ditch this place and go for the adventure.

cristina: [she pulls away from their first kiss.] i-i-i don't even know you.
owen: so?


5x05: "there's no i in team"
meredith's voice over: because we know as soon as we let go of the bench...someone comes along and changes the game completely.


5x06: "life during wartime"
owen: quick and dirty cristine.
cristina: a! Cristina!

owen: there were 20 people in my unit, including me and 19 died. And i got discharged so i'm not there anymore in the before. I knew your name in the before... And now i am living in the after.


5x07: "rise up"
cristina: the wife's here, of the beating victim. She ided her husband, so i-
owen: what's his name? I was wondering if you found out his name so that he would become a person to you. They're all people, you know. This is not a game or a competition, who gets surgeries and who doesn't. They're people and we get to save them. Now you're good. You're excellent and you can win all the contests. But if that's why you're doing this then you shouldn't be. Did you find out his name?
cristina: my dad died when i was nine. In a car accident, i was with him in the car. While we waited for the ambulance, i tried to keep his chest closed, so he wouldn't bleed so much. When he died, my hands felt his heart stop beating. That's why i do this. It's also why i win all the contests. The patients name is tom. [leaves]
owen: single malt scotch.


5x08: "these ties that bind"
cristina: i-i'm sorry. We lost him. The patient. I-i'm sorry.
owen: i don't need you to be sorry.
cristina: ok.
owen: i don't need you to be sorry.
cristina: ok.
Owen: I don't need you. I don't need you.
cristina: ok, ok, alright, alright.
[he kisses her]


5x09: "in the midnight hour"
owen: dr. Yang?
cristina: dr. Hunt.
owen: a-are you here for me?
cristina: what?
owen: i-i meant my-my trauma.
cristina: i'm here for a possible appy, the ambulance is on his way in. [turns around to leave]
owen: hey, uhm...
[she turns around and they look at each other]
cristina: did you wanna say something?
owen: how did you beat the ambulance?
cristina: i live across the street.

owen: i don’t know why i came here.
cristina: do you wanna come in?
owen: no. No i don’t think that would be appropriate.
cristina: do you want to go someplace else?
owen: no.
[she sits next to him and he looks at her]
owen: i think you're beautiful.


5x10: "all by myself"
owen: know who you're gonna pick?
cristina: well, i'm ranking them, according to a system. You know, surgical skills, hours in the o.r., published papers, academic accomplishments...
owen: you know them, you know their capabilities. Go with your gut.
cristina: my gut? I'm not putting a patients life in the hands of a novice surgeon based on my gut.
owen: well it worked for me.
cristina: [chuckles] your gut?
owen: it's what told me to choose you.

owen: not here. Here. [he brings her to the boiler room]
cristina: where are we going?
owen: don't worry, you'll like it.
cristina: uhh.
owen: wait. Just wait, wait..
[it blows air and she laughs and giggles]
owen: it's ok, it's good right? Right? It's the vent. It clears your head.. You feel better right?
cristina: Yes, yeah.
owen: it's out of time, out of space. Anything can happen on the vent. Anything.
cristina: like what?
owen: just wait.
[it blows again, she laughs and they kiss]


5x11: "wish you were here"
owen: you okay? Want to get a drink or something?
cristina: oh. Oh, now we're on again 'cause the mood suits you? Because i'm the sad little girl with no friends and i tripped your savior complex into action? Usually i can deal with the hot and cold thing, but not today. Just leave me the hell alone.


5x12: "sympathy for the devil"
owen: dr. Yang would you mind checking in some of my post ops, ers, and traumas? Also would you like to go on a date with me?
cristina: i'm sorry?
owen: a date? You said not to play hot and cold with you so uhm... Pick you up around 8?

cristina: you're late. You're really late. They probably even closed the kitchen.
owen: [weaves in] i don't want you to think that i stood you up.
cristina: are you drunk?
owen: i haven't been on a date since five years, since before i entered the military and i... I just wanted to take the edge of-
cristina: late and drunk? You are late and drunk?
owen: i will make this up to you. I promise this is not what you deserve. I know this is not what you deserve. And i will make this up to you! I promise!
cristina: okay before you say anything else, dr. Good times. You need to shower, you smell like a distillery. [he walks around a corner]
cristina: no. Not here!


5x13: "stairway to heaven"
owen: cristina, i want to apologize for last night. It was not my intention to arrive in that state.
cristina: you don't have to say anything.
owen: as a rule, if i'm showering with a woman, i do it without my clothes. And if i get in her bed naked, i don't pass out. And if i-
cristina: it's okay.
owen: it's not.
cristina: it's not, but you don't have to talk about it.

owen: i planned the whole evening, last night. A real date. It was a clear night, one of the five seattle gets all year. I was going to take you to the west point lighthouse and we were going to watch the northern lights together. I'd like another chance. I want you to give me another chance.
cristina: you've got some problems. You've got some big problems.
owen: yeah. Yeah, i do. Will, you go out with me anyway?
cristina: yes.


5x14: "beat your heart out"
owen: you should wear your hair up more. Shows off the back of your neck. I like the back of your neck.


5x15: "before and after"
owen: i call her, alright. I call my mother, once a week. I haven't told her i'm back, she thinks i'm calling from ... I keep the conversation short because i can't bear for her to know that the son she sent off to war is gone. He's gone. And if i just got in my car and drove the six miles to see her, she'd be so ... Sad. And she would look at me in the same way beth does, now. Like i'm not there. The only time i don't feel like a ghost is when you look at me, because when you look at me, you see me. You see me. This is me. This is me. Please, cristina, see me. See me.
cristina: [looks up]


5x16: "an honest mistake"
owen: today you were teacher to someone who needed to learn, but you were also a bully to someone who needed compassion. You were both.
cristina: Well, um… i wasn’t a bully. And… i was right.
owen: right.[chuckles] you know you’re a lot like her. Stubborn, opinionated. Smart. Forty years from now i’m gonna have to pry the scalpel out of your hand, too.
cristina: from my cold, dead hands!
owen: [laughs softly] you’re missing the point. Ah… i want to be around forty years from now.



5x17: "i will follow you into the dark"
owen: what are you doing?
cristina: assigning myself to a trauma with you tomorrow.
owen: cristina.
cristina: you know, i'm a big girl. I can handle my share of trauma, and i get to decide when i've had enough. It's gonna take a lot more than a bad dream to scare me off.
owen: it's more than a bad dream.
cristina: [caresses his face] i know.


5x19: "elevator love letter"
owen: i am so sorry. I don't know what i'm, i'm... I don't know... I'm sorry.
cristina: look at me.
owen: i'm sorry. [cries]
cristina: it's ok. It's ok. I know. It's ok. You were asleep. It's ok. Ok? It's ok. [hugs him]

cristina: i haven't seen you all day.
owen: what if i hadn't woken up? I can't even remember what happened. It's gone. I have no memory, no way to... I would never hurt you, ever. But i did. My hands just... Like how could... How could my own two hands be capable... I can't do this. Cristina... I can't...we can't do this... We need to stop seeing each other.
cristina: but you did wake up. Stop blaming yourself for something that is out of your control.
owen: we have to stop seeing each other.
cristina: why?
owen: i almost
cristina: almost what? I told you i know my limits. Let me decide what i can handle.

cristina: izzie's surgery went well.
owen: ok, that's good. I wish this could work. That it could be, that we could be...
cristina: me too.
owen: can i, can i hold you?

cristina: i don't think ... I can't handle this after all.
owen: what, what do you mean, what are you saying?
cristina: i'm sorry, i'm so so sorry. But i'm lying here in your arms, and i'm afraid to fall asleep.


5x21: "not good at saying sorry (one more chance)"
owen: nice work today.
cristina: nice work today? Seriously?
owen: i'm sorry?
cristina: run to my truck. You got o'malley clipping bleeders and you're telling me to run to your truck.
owen: you know what my truck looks like o'malley doesn't but that run you took it saved a guys life.
cristina: you know all day... All day you were teaching o'malley and you ignored me.
owen: o'malley wants to be a trauma surgeon. You've already declared cardio. I didn't do anything wrong today. I treated you like i would anyone else. [turns around]
cristina: [pushes him] i am not like anyone else! Take care now?! What is that?! What are you like you know happy now!? What are you?! You know just a chock em and forget em kind of guy!?
owen: [sighs and gives her a note]
cristina: [reads the note] hey there now. Take care now. Nice work today. [looks at him] what is this?
owen: it's my shrink. My shrink gave me these sentences we-uh-we came up with them together. They're all 3 word sentences so i could have something to say to you instead of the three words that are... That are killing me. The three words that you know i feel but i can't say them because it would be cruel to say them because i am no good for you. I don't want to torture you. I don't want to look at you longingly when i know i cant be with you. So yeah i'm smiling and i'm saying: Take care now... I'm letting you off the hook. I'm trying... I'm trying so hard to let you off the hook. I'm trying to make it right... What i did to you. Can't you see that? I'm just trying to make it right.
cristina: [gives him the note back] take care now. [walks away]


5x22: "what a difference a day makes"
[cristina and owen look at each other, exchanging awkward stares, and cristina looks away]
cristina: mmph. [owen looks down and cristina turns and looks at him] how's it going with your shrink?
owen: ah, i'm doing better, inch by inch. Uh, progress is slow. (cristina looks away and owen inches his hand slightly towards hers]
cristina: mmph.
[owen looks down guiltily]
owen: it was your ceiling fan. Above your bed. [cristina looks up at him] blades spinning like blades of a chopper. Um, my shrink said that was the trigger. [cristina straightens at this news] the um... Choking you. [he looks down guilty and cristina looks away from him]
cristina: oh.
[owen looks unsure of himself and slowly slides his hand across the railing, touching hers, and cristina looks down]
cristina: you know we should probably get going.
[she turns and walks away, leaving owen standing there alone, sad]


5x23: "here's to the future"
owen: so uh, i had a good session with my shrink this morning.
cristina: did you talk to her about your mom yet? [she looks up at him, and owen places his hand on his hip] i mean, have you seen your mom yet? Cause she lives, like you know, a few miles away, and she thinks your still in iraq.
owen: [he looks down] i... I'm planning to see her...
cristina: when?
[she walks away and owen looks away]

owen: quick consult dr. Yang.
[he pulls her into a closet and shuts the door behind him]
cristina: what are you doing?
owen: i realize the reason i haven't told my mother i'm back yet is because part of me is still over there. I made a commitment to the army that i wasn't able to fulfill. If my unit hadn't been destroyed, i would still be there so no wonder i can't sleep at night, or, or look my mother in the eye, no wonder you and i, we, we can't move forward, my work there isn't done. Until it is, i have no business being here. So... I've decided to go back.
cristina: i have to go.
[she turns and begins to walk away]
owen: cristina come on.
[he pulls on her arm to stop her and she turns back around]
cristina: what? I'm sorry, what am i supposed to say?
owen: i could use your support.
cristina: you don't have it.
[she leaves]

cristina: [she is rubbing her temple] it doesn't matter how good you are. Or how hard you work. You can do all the research, you can master all of the latest techniques, you can be the best. You can be the best surgeon in the world. [she stops rubbing her temple and folds her arms] but your patients are still gonna die. Cause the next day, or the next [sighs deeply] month or the next year, they're just gonna be hit by a car or find a mole on their back. [owen turns and stares at her] and there's nothing you can do about it. [owen looks away from her, and she turns to face him] i don't want you to die. [she looks away from him, while he continues staring at her]


5x24: "now or never"
cristina: hey, what's with hugging o'malley?
[owen turns around to face her]
owen: i slept cristina. Last night, i slept. I slept for the first time. [sighs happily] i slept.
cristina: and um, hugging o'malley, you uh, cause you slept?
owen: no. I hugged o'malley cause he's got great news which i'll let him tell you, but yeah, i guess, yeah maybe i hugged him because i slept. That's because of you. Because you came with me to see my mom and then i slept. I slept without nightmares. [cristina starts to smile to herself] that's not a small thing cristina, [he leans in closer to her] that, that is everything. I can be a better man, i can be a better man for you, and i hope, you know, if you'll let me, i can be a better man with you. [she begins to talk but he interrupts her] no don't say anything just, just think about it okay? [he leans in closer to kiss her] okay?
cristina: owen-
[he interrupts her by kissing her briefly and then he ends the kiss and walks away smiling]

owen: i'm sorry i had a, i had a, i didn't...
cristina: no no wait. [she stands and takes a deep breath and puts up her hands and closes her eyes] i love you. [she opens her eyes]
owen: [he turns and walks over to her] i... I... I... I love you too.
cristina: no. [she puts up her hands again] just... I love you. I said... I said i love you. [she shakes her head and glares at him] me. Cristina yang... What? [she turns around and starts pacing and then she turns back to him accusingly] you traumatized me.
owen: you know i am sorry about-
cristina: [she goes back to pacing again and shaking her hands] no damnit not about the choking. [he looks at her confused] it's, it's like you come here and then you pull out my icicle [he looks amused] and you make me love you you and i can't, i mean, i don't want to i... [she stops and faces him] i can't breathe...[she motions to her face with her hands] without you.
owen: [he looks for a moment and then steps towards her] you can do this cristina. We can do this. All you have to do is just meet me halfway. All you have to do is say yes. [he shakes his head and begins to walk away] all you have to do is say yes. [he turns and leaves the vents]

owen: i'll be right with you.
[cristina walks up to him and kisses him passionately]
cristina: yes. Yes. [she laughs happily] i gotta go, i gotta find alex.
owen: go, go!
[cristina turns and walks away and owen turns around and watches her leave, shocked and happy]
