I think for Amelia, wanting kids and actually having them are two different things considering her past. That's not something you just get over quickly. It's takes a lot of time to pysch yourself up to go through that again. And if Shonda is going the depression route then Amelia hiding out makes total sense.

So far only Alex knows that Amelia had a son who died shortly after birth. Otherwise nobody knows, except Addison, of course. I think if owen would know, he would also have total understanding for it.
