If Derek and Amelia talk about their past and father's death in 11x07, I wonder if the watch that Amelia wore from leaving rehab until she had the baby will come out again (their father's)

I always wondered if her mother and/or Derek knew she had it. She might have said in the episode where she gave it to Ryan but I find that episode very hard to watch. I'm not sure I'd want Derek to know she gave it to Ryan though, and the circmstances under which she got it back.

It might be nice if she either gave it to him, or told him that that (IMO) looking at it seemed to help her recovery. I remember them showing her looking at it quite a bit during that period, and it wasn't to check the time.

Good question: Does Derek and her mother even know she has the watch? Or did she take it without permission? How did she get the watch in the first place?

I would be shocked if the Grey's writers remembered so specific about Amelia's and Derek's past, but isn't the reason the robbers killed their dad was for the watch? I can't remember if they ever said how they got the watch back? I have a hard time seeing Carolyn willingly give Amelia the watch, especially given her past. Amelia had to have taken it.

Really looking forward to episode 7. I hope the other stuff mentioned in the press release isn't overbearing. Amelia needs her moment to shine.

Remember Derek saying to Amelia "He wouldn't give it up". It sounds like the father gave everything else over willingly, but refused to give up the watch because Caroline had worked so hard to save up the money. I'm assuming they caught the guys to get it back, but I guess the could have dropped it or pawned it too. To me it represented how much they loved each other and Amelia gave to to Ryan to represent how much she 'loved' him (I'm sorry, I just never got that). I never quite followed why Amelia kept looking at it but one time was when she told Erica that she wouldn't recommend further chemo (enjoy what time you have left instead of suffer to get a little more)

Anyway, it's POSSIBLE that the watch could be the sweet moment, but the JApril shippers all think it has to do with the baby and they're probably right.
