The only thing I knew when I started writing the finale was that Chyler was leaving the finale. That was the only information I knew.

How did the cast find out Chyler was getting killed off?

At the table read. It was really, really emotional. Chyler Leigh and I were the only people who knew what was coming for her character. Kim Raver and I were the only ones who knew what was coming for that character. Chyler and I had been discussing it for months.

Fans have been asking this morning if there's any way Lexie (Chyler) could still come back. They don't even care if it's totally implausible. "Can't she come back as a ghost? Or it was a dream?"

We saw Denny as a ghost, and people didn't really like that, did they? It was a really hard decision to let that character die versus send her off into the sunset somewhere. It was really difficult. It was not made lightly. I don't think we're going to see Lexie Grey ever again. That's not the intention, to see her again. It's a big loss. It's a big loss for the characters and it's a big loss for the show. We're busy feeling that loss.

Since when does she even care about what fans want? She brought Denny back countless of times and she won't ever bring Lexie again? Thanks so much Shonda for showing how much you really are grateful towards you loyal viewers.

And funny that we still haven't heard any words from Chyler. Now I don't even want Lexie back because Chyler deserves so much more than that.

Shonda's still trying to cover herself, I see. Such a shame for her that most people are seeing through her lies now. I'll say roughly what I said over at another board.

Chyler was forced out just like a large number of other cast members (Brooke Smith comes to mind) Shonda can lie and say it was mutual all she likes, it's not going to change the fact that everything points towards it being a lie (Chyler saying she'd be around for a few more years at the start of the season and her refusal to talk now say it all, really)

Shonda's lies have finally caught up with her, and I wouldn't be surprised if Brooke Smith's comments where she implies that she was forced out by the network come back to haunt her after this. People have been forced out before, and up until now the viewers have ignored it, they don't seem to be doing so anymore.

That's the only thing that is showing the real truth. Shonda is such a coward she doesn't even step up like a good leader would over something like this. She is definitely not telling us everything here.
