I think Cristina took their friendship for granted. Mer has done a lot for her and visa versa, but that doesn't mean that will always be the case. I think she expected Mer to drop her research for her. The thing is, both women are hardheaded and competitive. Both have a goal set.

I think that is where Cristina leaving will come in because you can't be friends and colleagues with goals in the same place. I think their friendship will be better off long distance, where they aren't in a place where there is competition. It was different when they were interns, they weren't even thinking they would be working in the same place after the boards. Plus the hospital itself can't keep up with them financially or even supportively. If it could, they could have bought a second machine for Cristina. Also, if Cristina stays, the hospital could be looking at a split since everyone knows both and will side with one or the other....or have emotional breakdowns because of being stuck between the two (like Alex).

I love their friendship, but at this moment I think it is good that Cristina is leaving.

Their fight isn't nice, but it's somehow ''nice'' to see the two of them fight for a change. They have been so close for over 9 seasons, and I'm actually glad they are giving them something else to play with before Sandra is exiting the show. I'm sure the friendship will be fixed ( I don't think it will ever be the same, but still ) when Christina goes away ( wether she dies or leaves to another hospital doesn't matter ), but for now it's important for them to learn that they still have to work for their friendship, and that they shouldn't take it for granted.

I have a bigger love for Meredith, than for Christina, but they have both said things at this point that they shouldn't have. They both screwed up, and I hope that their growing apart won't last for too long.
