Derek Shepherd is the best Neurosurgeon. With his amazing blue eyes, and great hair, he’s known as Dr Mcdreamy. Derek is a family guy, with four sisters, a loving mother, and a lot of nieces and nephews. His father was killed by two guy who came into his store and wanted his watch. Derek loves Scotch, he likes to listen to the Clash, eat some coffee-flavored ice-cream, and he cheats on the crossword puzzles in the newspapers. He used to ride his motorcycle, but after an accident (that left a permanent scar on his forehead), he vowed never to ride it again. Derek left New York City after he found his wife in bed with his best friend. He was offered a job at Seattle Grace. The first few weeks in Seattle were boring for Derek, but that all changed when, one night, he met Meredith Grey at Joe's bar After their passionate one-night stand, he was kicked out. Expecting to never see Meredith again, Derek got ready for his first day at work at Seattle Grace. But fate had other things planned for him, and he quickly discovered that his one night stand was working at the same hospital as him. From the moment he saw Meredith again, he was determined to go out with her.

Meredith Grey is a second-year resident, and known as the one to beat. If we go back in time, we see that Meredith has had a lot to deal with. Her dad left at the tender age of five, and her mom was a coldhearted surgeon. Together, they left Seattle, and moved to Boston . She was raised by various nanny’s, and never really experienced a warm, loving family, because of that. This would make many people weak, but it only made Meredith Stronger . After her rebellious teen years, she and her then best friend, Sadie, packed their bags and were determined to discover Europe . When she came back, though, it turned out her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and Meredith was up for a next challenge: find a way to balance the hard college years, and taking care of her mom. After finishing med school at Dartmouth, where she discovered she had a tendency to get naked after drinking too much tequila , She made the decision to move back to Seattle . And it was there, that she met the love of her life: Derek Shepherd. But it wasn’t the typical ‘’boy meets girl, boy and girl fall in love, boy and girl live happily ever after’’ story. No, their story went a tad bit different....

Season 1 is the season where the journey. of our extraordinary couple began. They just had a one night stand, and expected to never see each other again. Fate, however, had other things planned. Because on their first day at work, Meredith and Derek discovered that they were co-workers. And not only were they co-workers, Derek was Meredith's boss's boss! Although Meredith was reluctant to date Derek at first, he kept insisting, and after a while, Meredith finally agreed to go out on a date. Soon, they started to fall in love. , and more sleepovers at each other's places followed. When Meredith's friends and boss found out, they were mad at first, but realising this was the ''real deal'' the friends came around, and they gave them their blessings. Meredith and Derek's relationship kept blossoming. , untill it was put to a halt, when Derek's estrangled wife, Addison Montgomery, showed up.

After Addison showed up in Seattle, Derek tried to make his marriage work and broke up with Meredith. Though they couldn't be together they never grew apart and never stopped loving each other. Their chemistry was overwhelming and without even being together, their love was always visible to everyone and it was just a matter of time until something had to happen. The tension was extreme when Derek was comforting her in the closet room, when Meredith admitted that she missed him in the elevator or when they were trying to remember their "last kiss" after the bomb accident. Meredith and Derek begin a platonic friendship and they started to be close again thanks to their dog, Doc, and. When Meredith dates the vet Finn, Derek starts to be jealous. After a heated argument, they ended with a passionate and explosive One Night Stand at the hospital's prom in the Season 2 finale.

Season 3 started great for our couple. After their heated argument in the exam room, and the passionate love-making that followed, Derek went over to Meredith's house to tell her how much he loved her, and that he wanted to give her the time to make her choice. Meredith, who wasn't sure who to pick at first, decided to date both Finn and Derek. It didn't take her long to figure out Derek was "the one", and that she wanted to be with him. He founded her at Joe’s bar, and the two started reclined their relationship. Everything went great for a while, until Ellis had a lucid day, and called Meredith ordinary. Meredith started to doubt herself, and her relationship with Derek. This, combined with Meredith’s accident, made Derek rethink their relationship. When the chief offered Derek his job then, things started to get even more rocky. Despite their obvious love for each other, something just wasn’t working, and when Meredith’s stepmother Susan died, things started to go downhill. Meredith completely shut Derek out, and vice versa. Their epic love was still there, but maybe it just wasn’t the right time for them.

In the fourth season, Meredith and Derek are conflicted with their relationship. They have struggled and failed to make it work, but they cannot let each other go, so they see each other in private . As their journey seems to somewhat improve, and Derek even introduces blue prints for their future house, Meredith finds out that Derek kissed a scrub nurse. This sets things into a downward spiral, and they decide to break it off for good. Derek begins to see the nurse, Rose, in hopes of getting over Meredith. Meredith is torn and hurt and puts herself in therapy. She soon comes up with a clinical trial that requires a neurosurgeon, and she goes to Derek. He helps her, and after they lose all of their patients, Meredith pushes a reluctant Derek to go for one more. They finally succeed, and to celebrate they reconcile, because after all, they are "extraordinary together".

The season started with Meredith and Derek moving in together. Derek then being annoyed by Meredith's roomates living there. But in the end he let them stay cause he knew she wanted them there. Derek brought Meredith a kidney in a jar and said he could never have done the trial without her. When a serial killer came into the hospital. Meredith felt compassion for him, and Derek didn't like it. He told her about his dead father. His mom showed up in town, with a ring for Derek to give Meredith. And just when Derek had set up a beautiful proposal. Addison called. About her brother's brain tumor. Derek then got into a deep depression when he found out that he had killed more people than he had saved. Meredith stood by him though. Not leaving his side for a second. Derek then proposed to her in an elevator. Though, when their wedding day came, they gave it to Izzie, cause of her cancer. Then in the season finale, they married on a post it.
