Season 2 was the season where I realized that these two are soulmates. They were not going to be the couple that went through their seasons were they were so in love, and then the next they were going to hate each other and move on. They were it, whether at the time they realized it or not.
They have both of flaws. Of course they do! They're human. Meredith needs to learn how to trust, and Derek needs to learn how to be a bit more patient. They have sacrificed, more than one really can: family, friends, protection, walls, maybe even a part of themselves.
Will they make it through? Most likely, because love will prevail. Will there be twists and more heartbreak along the way. Of course, but that's what makes it real.

It's taken me a long time to finally put into words what I feel about the relationship between Meredith Grey and Derek Shepherd, because theirs is one that I hold very dear and special to my heart. So I thought about what a dictionary would say about love and compared a few definitions about it with MerDer:

Hell yeah! The´re definitely passionate and the definition really fits for them, even if they don´t get it always.

-a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, as for a parent, child, friend or partner

They always care and cared about each other even as they were apart.
He comforts her ( example 2x15, supply closet) and she cheers him up (4x08 bench outside the hospital)!

-sexual passion or desire

Ha.ha! Well, I don´t bring examples because there are sooo many...
I think it´s very clear that sexual passion and desire have never been a problem!
