No one kills off their lead

I would say it's very, very unlikely that Mer or Der die if someone dies. They're the faces of Grey's, and ABC wouldn't be very happy if they lost their faces of Grey's. Grey's isn't officially renewed yet, but they've said they think it'll be back. Who would they promote with if they didn't have McDreamy?

And what would next season be about? Mer grieving the loss of her husband? Sounds antagonizing and depressing.
