Episode Description

Izzie spends time with a fellow cancer patient and contemplates whether or not to undergo a risky surgery, as Mark is ready to take his relationship with Lexie to the next level and a patient makes Owen reassess his place at Seattle Grace. George delivers stunning news to Bailey, sending shockwaves throughout the hospital, and Izzie's friends anxiously await her recovery from surgery. Meanwhile Bailey is surprisingly displeased after being accepted into the pediatric fellowship program, and the victim of a near-fatal traffic accident brings the talents of Seattle Grace's doctors together.

Since season two and on these words have been used in a character/ship bashing manner: MurDer, Bobble Head(Denny), Gizzard, Gizziegate, Grizzie, Izzme, Callous, and etc. These names are considered to be character and/or ship bashing which is something we do not tolerate on this board. So from now call the ships and/or characters by their names, and not names give to them by negative association.

~ No actor or writer-bashing, please. This is a

rule. We are all welcome to criticize the characters and the stories but making negative personal comments about the actors, the creator or the writers are unacceptable. Unless we know these people personally, we have no right to talk negatively about their personal lives, even in a speculative way. Let's keep our comments to the fiction part of the show, shall we?

No Shonda definitely doesn't do this and I would hate her if she did. I think the only time she's changed midstream was last season during the writers strike she took some time to review the season and changed some things so the final 5 or 6 eps were great but she always knew she wanted Mer in that field with the candles so that's why the whole season was focused on Mer's therapy because the writers knew they had to get her to a place where she'd be ok standing in that field of candles.

It's not that she bases an entire season on the last 10 min but if she knew the last 10 min were going to be Izzie almost dying with Alex by her side, then you can see that thread throughout the whole season going back to the first ep where Alex is horrible to Izzie and she sees Denny.

In my experience, shows that focus too much on ratings, fanbases (Roswell, OTH) or let the studios have too much say (which I thought happened when GA let go of Brooke Smith) are usually the shows that end up ultimately failing or losing integrity with their writing cause they pull crazy stunts and aren't true to the development of the characters.

Like I said before, I don't think Shonda is infallible but I do think she knows the journey these characters need to take.

Question: I thought we didn't need to do new threads for episodes after 300 posts. I thought it was only for other threads like games, character discussions, etc.

Well I remember on the O.C board when Marissa died, that episode thread had well over 300 posts and it got a little crazy, so I don't think it's a bad thing.

I wasn't saying it was a good or bad thing.

I was just wondering because I think one time we were far over on a episode thread and the mod said that rule had changed but only for episode threads. Maybe it changed back.

well, it sure was a hell of a finale. the best two characters of the show! hope at least one of them doesn't die (i suposse this isn't over right?)

i love this show, the 5th season was the best one.

I really do NOT want to wait for another season this is the worst i only just watched it and i balled they cant kill off both of them i mean i would just be so devastated if they were to do so and we have to wait how ever many months to find out and ahhhh my head is so full lol

I just thought... Why didn't George write his name on Mer's palm? When being in such a condition, is it realistic that he thinks of that nickname that hasn't been used in ages? Would he really have thought of that in all his pain?
Obviously it's a great plot and Ellen's acting was superb.

I know. And it was just clumsy for Alex to call George 007 again, as if to remind us what George's nickname used to be. But then again, who knows where George's head is right now. I really hope he doesn't have amnesia or something like that.

And I agree Ellen was excellent in that scene. I'm usually one of her biggest critics in terms of her acting. But she gave me the chills there.

but when you think about it 007 is smaller than george to write and also maybe he felt it was understandable to mer that 007 meant he was george and im loving ellen's pregnant glow

It would have been far more complicated to write George, I think, and Meredith may not have read it clearly. Plus, considering the condition he was in...
