Episode Description:
In his new role as Chief, Derek restores the hospital lecture series, and Richard, Bailey and Callie present to the group pivotal surgical cases from their pasts - Bailey reflects on her first days as a shy resident, Callie looks back on a polio case, and Richard recalls a case in which he and Ellis worked on a patient diagnosed with GRID, a virus later called AIDS.

Finally a great episode that was focused back to the root of the show, the compassion in caring for patients. And no Owen either, so bonus points for me!

All around a really solid episode I thought. Though they didn't do anything to make Ellis any more likeable. Very interesting to see that she was the tipping point for Richard's 25 year long drinking problem. It certainly does track though.

Actually, this episode made me have compassion for Ellis. They showed that she had good intentions. Yeah she didn't make time for her own daughter but still she cared about her patient when no one else would

What was it that I watched ok the Grid interesting as I'm old enough to remember hearing of the term and as it developed into Aids and all the hysteria that came with it, thought they handled it accurately as towards the time but what in Gods name did they have Callie who would have no problem telling of a huge case she had that jump started her career, they had her bumbling around I didnt appreciate it, stage fright my ass

I'm not shocked that her and Alex might of had sex but the fact that it never came up in all these years is odd, especially since it was Alex who blabbed to George about Callie having sex with Mark

Also why did they make it like Callex never knew each other during all this time when clearly they had a past and why was AZ bothered by it, Callie was with men before and she knows that, was even married to one, so why the shock

Ellis was pretty much what I expected she loved her career and put more time into than mothering Mer I gathered that during season 3

I really like this episode. My favorite flashback was Baileys. It makes you see how she developed her thick skin. so, Ellis was the one that started Richard's drinking problem. Poor Mer that scene with little mer was heartbreaking. Overall i'm seeing that this episode is getting positive feedback from the fans which is good

does anyone know if there is a new episode next week? Or is grey's going into hiatus like all of my other shows?
