Episode 2.07 ~ Something to Talk About 'Made Your Way'

Figured since the summer blahs were coming back around with all the repeats, and us eagerly awaiting season three that I'd bring back something I started last summer during the summer episode drought. The idea of this thread is for everyone to put in suggestions of what they think would've made any of the episodes even better than they already were... Thought it might inspire some new discussion, and might even create some great ideas for all you fan fic writers out there...so come on everyone...let us know what you think...we want to know!

Episode Summary

Quote:
Cristina, Izzie and Meredith aggressively pursue the case of Shane, a male patient who seems to have a hysterical pregnancy, which fascinates them and the entire medical staff; and a sheltered young patient inspires Alex to better express his feelings for Izzie.

Great idea Christy, for all the reasons you listed. Especially for fan fic, I never thought of it that way.

First off, I thought Izzie and Cristina were pretty OOC in this ep. And it made no sense that they were selling tickets to the pregnant guys operation. Cristina is rich, and Izzie is debt free.

I know it was to set up for Mer to get up on her soap box and make her stirring speech. But I think they could have found a better way.

Thanks man...I appreciate the support...

Yeah, I tend to agree with you on this point...though it could possibly be argued that it was more like being right in the thick of a medical mystery. Think it was more about the exposure, and fifteen minutes of fame, than about the money now that I've thought about it more...

And this is certainly true as well...they did need a way to make Mere look more caring than her self-righteous attitude this episode (when it came to the whole Derek/Addison situation) was indicating... So they went with this...

I just liked right after Mer's speech when she yells at Derek: "And what are you looking at?!?"

I wish they could have shown some resolution with Burke/Cristina. Like what happened after he told the Chief about them. If this was when he asked her to go out with him?

I loved that, too. Honestly, it's times like those that I really Mere... I know we only get glimpses of that side of her every once in a while, but when we do, I'm just like 'Rock on, Mere...'...

I'd actually forgotten about this having taken place in this episode, but I would've liked to see that too. Was left kind of open-ended...especially since it looked like the Chief and Cristina's eyes met for just a second there...at least to me... So I'd kind of wondered what thoughts were going through Cristina's mind there...though I'm pretty sure I can guess...

I actually forgot about that too. It would have been interesting to see what happened between Preston and Cristina after that. Especially since she didn't want him to do it.

This is actually one of my favorite episodes, I probably wouldn't change much except, I really enjoyd how Meredith went from depression to anger in this ep but I felt like she headed back towards depression. I wish she could have kept some of that fie throughout the rest of the season.

Well put...I agree with you. I like the Meredith we started to see in this episode far more than the depressed version we got most of the season...definitely...

I guess I feel the same no matter what Meredith is doing. So the anger vs. depression thing really doesn't make a difference one way or another for me.

Hmmm...that's fair, Pia... While I still prefer angry, snarky Mere to depressed, whiny Mere, I can see why it might be different for you or anyone else...

I can see why someone would prefer the angry Meredith. If I cared enough, I probably would to. But overall, the character rarely leaves an impression on me. I usually forget what she does most of the time. Overall, I find Ellen's performances consistently unconvincing so it doesn't matter what Meredith does.

And I can't say "recast Meredith" every week in the "Made Your Way" topics. That would just be boring (and obnoxious).

But that's JMO (and nothing else), and I'm obviously in the minority regarding the matter.

Yeah, you make a good point there... Still, no worries...

Eh...from what I've seen, you have a bit more support than you might think on this...
