Ellen Pompeo - Winner Best lead actress in a drama series - second year running at the Italian Serial awards 2008

Ellen Pompeo made her major studio screen debut in Brad Silberling's Moonlight Mile, starring alongside Susan Sarandon, Dustin Hoffman and Jake Gyllenhaal. She received outstanding reviews for her portrayal of an outspoken young woman carrying a silent burden that's breaking her heart. A native of Boston, Pompeo was most recently seen starring opposite Luke Wilson, Vince Vaughn and Will Ferrell in the wildly successful Old School and, before that, in Steven Spielberg's Catch Me If You Can, opposite Leonardo DiCaprio. Prior to Moonlight Mile, Pompeo starred in several independent features, including In the Weeds and Coming Soon, and she can also be seen in the upcoming Glory Days.

Right now she's starring in the hit series 'Grey's Anatomy' as Dr. Meredith Grey.

Taking full advantage of the beautiful southern California weather yesterday, Ellen Pompeo was spotted walking to a late lunch with a male friend.

The “Old School” hottie looked to be having a marvelous time, enjoying the company of her pal while sporting a black and grey striped poncho-style dress with black sunglasses and toestrap sandals.

Last night was a big one for Pompeo, as her massively-popular nighttime drama “Grey’s Anatomy” hit the airwaves with the big season premiere.

And it sounds like the new season will have plenty of surprises, romance, and heatbreaks to keep viewers coming back each week.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Ellen Pompeo who currently plays “Meredith Grey” in the show Grey’s Anatomy, and Danielle Panabaker, star of Shark, will be Raleigh Saturday and Sunday to speak in support of Barack Obama.
Pompeo and Panabaker will appear at Mosaic Wine Lounge for a Generation Obama event tomorrow and at NC State University on Sunday. They will speak about the importance of registering to vote and getting involved in this year’s election. The voter registration deadline is Oct. 10, but early voting starts on Oct. 16.

Pompeo and Panabaker will also make stops at UNC Wilmington, UNC Pembroke, Campbell University, Meredith College, and East Carolina University.

Stars of the TV shows “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Shark” will speak at Campbell University on Saturday in support of Barack Obama, campaign officials announced today.

Ellen Pompeo, who plays Dr. Meredith Grey on the hit show “Grey’s Anatomy,” and Danielle Panabaker, who plays Julie Stark , daughter of a hot-shot lawyer on “Shark,” will appear at 4 p.m. in the Turner Auditorium in D. Rich Hall.

Pompeo and Panabaker plan to talk about the importance of registering to vote and getting involved in the election process.

The actors also plan to stop at UNC-Wilmington, UNC-Pembroke, Meredith College, East Carolina University and N.C. State University, the release said.
