I think that is because they might want Callie/ Arizona to get back together at some point.

Arizona in a relationship with the woman she cheated with would make that kind of impossable I think

True. It's pretty certain that nothing serious will happen between Arizona and Leah, but there is the chance that something serious could develop between Arizona and Lauren, which would forever sink the Calzona ship. And I agree with you that the writers want Calzona back together at some point.

You know, now that Arizona is separated from Callie, I am fine if they don't get back together. I'm actually more interested in seeing Arizona and Lauren and how they would work. I think there is too much baggage between Callie and Arizona, and I feel like Arizona will forever be asking Callie for her forgiveness if they stay together, even if Callie already forgave her. They could never be on equal grounds because of everything that has happened, and I don't think that it is good for Arizona. I want her to start with a clean slate with someone, and right now, that option is with Lauren.

Selfishly, it also seems like the show is preparing to make Callie Meredith's (and even Derek's) BFF after Cristina is gone. I would rather Arizona be with a relatively new character than with Callie who will no doubt completely dominate the entire relationship by then. If we think we don't see enough of Arizona when she's with Callie now, I think she'll completely disappear when Callie becomes MerDer's BFF. At least with Lauren, she still has a fighting chance
