Grey's Anatomy - Anti-Bashing

Hi, guys!

We seem to be having a lot of fights about ships and characters these days. We're getting so many complaints. It seems we're all getting a bit too oversensitive. It's getting to a point where people can't express their opinions anymore so I think this should be addressed now before it gets worse.

I think we should lay ground rules:

Opinions vs. Bashing. Expressing our opinions is okay. If I dislike a particular character or ship, I should be able to say it. That does not mean I'm bashing. I'm just expressing my opinion. Now if I go on and on and on about how awful this particular character is, that is considered bashing. Constructive criticism is much appreciated. That is clearly stated in the board rules. Be mindful of other posters who may like the character we're talking about. Let's keep in mind that we may have a right to post our thoughts but other people do too. If we want people to respect our opinions, let us learn to respect others too.

Negative Nicknames. Using negative nicknames like MurDer, Deady, Asslex, Gizzard, McFelon (referring to Ellen Pompeo's real life husband), etc. are considered character, ship or person bashing and should not be used in the board.

Avatars. Avatars with negative connotation about a character or ship should not be used.

Can I add something myself in a forum member/non-mod capacity?

What is worse than character/ship bashing, IMO, is member bashing. Or ridiculing.. as I've seen. If you disagree with something, a) let it go and accept someone has a different opinion, or b) try and talk to the person you disagree with either in the thread that it was brought up in, or by PM. Don't take the comments to another thread and laugh at them and call them stupid. That's not nice behaviour at all, and I'd like to think the members of this forum could do things in a more mature manner.

Yes, thank you for posting this.

I admit that I've been staying away from GA forums* and out of certain threads because I'm getting weary of some of the bashing that goes on.

*Not just this forum, but forums devoted to GA in general.

Some clarification was needed, and you provided it.
