I only really felt that way in s11 though. I mean she had more going on in s9 when she wasn't even a regular yet and that's just ridiculous. Last season Shonda did the stupid jealousy storyline, didn't really make Jo explain what was bothering her so much, suddenly made Mer have a problem with Jo (which resulted in a lot of viewers suddenly having a problem with her since the viewers often feel about characters the way Mer feels about them) and then never properly resolved it. Then she also dropped whatever storyline she wanted to do with Jolex which is why Jo ended up being placed in random scenes (just like Alex but with him it was maybe less obvious since they were all friendship scenes with his squad) so it felt like Jo wasn't really doing anything on the show. We know that Shonda wanted to make Mer and Jo bond but that didn't happen. Jo and Arizona lived together for 2 years and only had 1 scene together in the frat house. They wasted so much time for so many characters without doing anything with them. I don't know if what hurt Jo most was the jealousy storyline or the fact that Shane and Leah left which resulted in her and Steph being so horribly excluded. I still find it ridiculous that residents and attendings suddenly can't be friends anymore when Jolex is the product of an intern/attending friendship. And as far as I know Jo was getting along with Jackson just fine too. Suddenly nobody likes her anymore, not even Alex is as interested as he used to be, that's what it looked like thanks to this horrible last season. I think it was just the crappy writing.

I don't get that either. I think the most evident two scenes were the MAC+Jo bedroom scene where they waited for the Harper Avery Foundation to call Cristina vs. the stupid foursome scene in 11x07. You can't tell me that it's easier to include Jo in a scene with Cristina than with Callie and Maggie who she even got along with just fine. Suddenly in s11 they became even more obvious with the attending and resident division than they had ever been on the show. I find it stupid, especially in Alex's case since he's in a relationship with a resident.

I really think a lot of things didn't make sense in s11 and a lot of them are probably because of those BTS issues. I think if Patrick hadn't left in 11x08 they wouldn't have made Mer and Maggie bond so fast and established that foursome that was basically used as a support group for Mer. I don't mean to blame Patrick here though, I just think it made the writers' job a lot harder to follow through with what they had planned and they had to scramble a lot of things to still write a flowing storyline for most of the characters which sort of worked but made a lot of things weird and unlogical. I'd like to think that Jo would've had more focus if Shonda had done what she wanted to do with her.

Again really, I don't mean to blame anyone here, I hope nobody thinks I'm attacking Patrick. I'm just trying to take into account those external factors that sadly affected Jo and Alex a lot too.

Oh crap, I really hope Patrick fans don't think we're attacking him everytime we mention the BTS issues. I think we're just trying to explain why things happened the way they did last season and why Jo had nothing going on. I wouldn't have even in a million years thought that Patrick leaving would even affect Jo at all since they are two characters who aren't related. But I think it did affect Jo because she's in a relationship with Mer's person who has to show the most support. Things maybe wouldn't have been as bad if Cristina were still here but even then Alex would've been Mer's number 2. There's no way Jolex would've been just able to live their lives and have their storylines as if nothing happened. And if Callie or Maggie are supposed to become Jo's mentor it also explains why she had almost no mentoring scenes.

And you're so right about that M.A.C. + Jo scene. I loved that scene so much and it was great to see the writers include Jo. And she was closer with Callie/Maggie than with Cristina which makes the scene in 11x07 even more infuriating.

I really really hope that Jo won't be spending most of her time in s12 with the new interns. I really wanna see her bond with some of the attendings. She's been dating Alex and working at that hospital long enough and she's a nice person. How can she befriend nobody?

In 12x02 she's with the interns. But I don't know what she's doing in 12x01. Callie and Maggie are working with Alex, so no mentoring scenes for Jo I think. Or she could always choose Plastics since I think Camilla's tweet about Jesse seeing her run into a wall was from when they were still filming 12x01. I don't mind some Jo/Jackson and I think that's better for the Japril fans than Jackson having scenes with a single female who he could end up flirting with. But I'm not sure if I want her in Plastics. I think she fits better in Ortho or Trauma and Ben/Jackson had these funny scenes together. Of course Jo could always show more enthusiasm for the Plastics Posse than Ben.

Perhaps we should be glad Shonda didn't make them get married last season like she probably wanted to. Imagine them getting married in 11x24 when Derek died 3 episodes before. That would've been plain horrible. I have no idea if Richard and Catherine got hate for that but Jolex sure would have gotten tons of hate. They got hated on for not breaking up, I can only imagine what a wedding would've caused

I already saw people hating on them for being the only GA couple in the promo but they're one of the only couples that are together atm. And this fandom is so hating on the wrong people I swear. Every Jolex fan I saw on my twitter was like "is this a dream", "can't believe they actually gave us some Jolex", "I hope this isn't just Shonda trying to get us to stop complaining because she ignored them so much last season". Not one person I saw was being cocky and calling them the new MerDer or some BS which other fandoms would've immediately done if it had been their OTP. We're being humble and we get hated on the most. Whatever, I'm just gonna keep rewatching this.

Just came home from work, how great is this?? Ignore the haters, they hate no matter what! There was almost no Jolex last season and they were still hating! At least finally we're getting something!

I have to admit I'm so happy that Justin and Camilla were acting like a couple there and we didn't see Justin interact with anyone else much. This should probably tell people who think that Alex and Meredith will end up together that the writers don't have any kind of plans going in that direction. They could've showed them as each other's person in that promo but didn't do that either. No reason to upset the MerDer fans even more, right? I think Shonda upset them enough last season.

Yes I think Justin and Ellen throwing popcorn at each other would've upset me. But only because people have romanticized Merlex now. Last year I would've been happy about it.

I have to admit that I didn't think of the TGIT promo when I saw Camilla dressed up in a photo with Kelly and Caterina. And I never thought that Justin was there too. She fooled us by not posting a pic with him.
