Is he still married? I can't wait to see his son again and how that relationship is.

Added you

He was pretty bad when he first appeared. One of the firemen ratted Voight's son out for drinking and driving which resulted in a crash that paralysed a kid. Voight didn't want his son to go to prison so he tried to bully Casey into changing his statement. He harrassed him and his fiancee, planted drugs on them, threatened them, he even pulled a gun on him etc. At the time he was labelled as a dirty cop and Antonio helped have him caught for this which is why he went to prison.

He came back at the end of the season to launch PD and although he was still very much the same, they layered him a bit more. Casey's fiancee was murdered in a fire an Voight solved who murdered her.

So I don't know, when I first watched it I thought he was a one dimensional bad guy but now since PD, I'm kind of seeing it more as he was trying to protect his son but went about it terribly.

I agree with what was mentioned so far... he is layered which is amazing for a character, makes it even more interesting seeing the development in the long run of the show.

At first in Chicago Fire I thought he was just an idiot, but kudos to the writers for working it in a way to make him more complex.

And really I think making him more complex makes more sense than trying to label him a reformed cop or even just putting him back in his old ways. He was really just unlikeable before.

Agreed. When I heard he was fronting the show I was like there's no way they can make this work. Then I watched the first two episodes and I'm loving him. Especially in the scenes with Erin.

Yeah he's still seen as a bad guy but his team seem to respect him.

I agree, when word got out he was the lead, I just shook my head thinking it wouldn't work.... now that I watched the first 2 episodes, I'm intrigued by him and also sympathizing a lot
He is not a saint, but he doesn't pretend to be.... it's way more interesting because that means he is really a wild card and we don't know how he will react.

I'm loving his scenes with Erin too.... he does seem to care like a sort of surrogate father for her

Sophia said at the TCA press store that we will slowly learn about that relationship but basically he's been like a guardian to her.

This makes sense to me, can't wait to see it. And really with him saying the unit is like a family I could see it being his role for everyone.

^ Yeah I can see it too!

I hope that they'll show the whole family/unit thing slowly and in the small gestures.
