Possible Board Closure Discussion: Please Read and Respond!
 

I have been discussing this with the moderator managers, and I think that it may be time to close this board. Our post counts have been declining over the past few months and we have very few regular posters. As you know, Fan Forum requires that we average at least 15 posts per day, with lower numbers than that leading to warnings and then possible closure of the board. We would prefer to go out under our own terms rather than be forced to close due to low post counts.

Please let us know what you think. We'd be glad to hear any suggestions or advice to renew interest here. Remember that to keep the board going, we need the commitment of a few regular, dedicated posters. As much as we love this board, please don't just post to "save" the board and then disappear again, because we'll be in the same position that we're in now if you do.

As all of you know, my co-mod has stepped down but I only agreed to co-mod this board because she agreed to co-mod my other board. No one qualified has stepped up and as much as I love the One Chicago shows, it will be difficult for me to moderate this board solo. So, I’m afraid I will have to step down which will lead to the board closing. Please let me know what you guys think..

Ohh I'm so sorry about this... I am actually watching on One Chicago right now (I am like 1 season behind in all of them) so that's why I haven't posted here yet but once I catch up it's a board I'd like to post at.
I'll be sad to see the board close, but it's understandable since it's hard to be a solo mod.
Hope posters rally up to keep it going :)

Have to admit I didn't expect to see this, and it makes me sad. I haven't been here long but I do love the board.

I was actually going to apply to moderate but figured I wasn't really qualified as I only watch two of the three shows and am not really interested in picking up the third again, and hoped that someone more qualified would apply.

I'd hate to see the board closed, but being a solo mod isn't easy, so I would understand. If it stays, I will continue to post.

It’s not about the low post count honestly but this is a 3 show board and it’s a lot to take on by myself. I was hoping for a co-mod to at least share the duties.

I was seriously thinking about it, but was concerned that I would be at a disadvantage because I don't watch PD.

I briefly thought about applying too. But my time here is not always consistent. Real life always takes control when you active toddlers. :lol: I just watch PD and Fire. I hadn't gotten into Med.

I would really hate to see this board go away.

Yes, which is why I know I can’t handle all these boards and 2 I’m doing solo. This board requires a bit more TLC because there’s the 3 shows on the one board. So I hope you all understand why I’d be stepping down unless someone steps up.

I got into Med straight away (It was actually Torrey DeVitto being in it that got me watching the shows) and was pretty much instantly obsessed with Fire, but struggled with PD and ended up dropping it during season 2. I know the PD characters to look at but don't know much about what is going on now so I'd be pretty useless in conversation about it. I probably could manage it, but I figured someone that watches all three would apply and likely be a better fit. Disappointed that that didn't happen, as it was really my only reservation.

It really would suck to see it go.

Nooooo :( sorry I don’t post that much chicago pd (the only Chicago show I watch) is the main reason why I joined if it shuts downs where would the Topic go?

It would be a shame for this board to go. They are some great shows from what I saw of them. Being a solo mod though is hard, & I'm sure it'd be a lot harder when you're dealing with multiple shows

Leigh - you don't have to know or watch all to mod. For NCIS I only watched the original, not LA, when I applied & while yes I was at a disadvantage I could still help with the NCIS things. You could work it out with a co-mod who is more knowledgeable about the show you're not watching so they concentrate more on those threads maybe :shrug:. I don't think a moderator should have to watch all the shows for these multi-show boards. You just have to have the passion for at least one :hug:

Jen - a thread could be started on the Television board for each of the shows if the board closes to continue discussing them there :)

Yes Leigh. I would just handle all the Chicago PD stuff :nod: on all my other boards, I don’t do spoilers. So I never go into those threads. My co-mods watch them for us.

Also Leigh, you post in a lot of the threads which is what is really looked for in a moderator.

That sounds like a good plan :nod: I am obsessed with Fire and Med, so if you can handle PD, I can definitely do Fire and Med.

I like to post a lot :lol: And Fire and Med are easy for me because I love every character on both shows.

Ah Jo it's true that moderating a board for three shows is a lot to take in :nod: . I hope that someone qualified enough would apply for the position!

I myself have been pretty AWOL these past few months and I am sorry about that. I am swamped at work and being moderator in another board does take part of my time.

It seems that the show is making the posts, it's more about finding a moderator that would work with you. I see that there are people willing to take the position so fingers crossed that this would happen!

P.S: Good that you shared this! Otherwise people would not have known and would not have thought to apply for the position.
