Maybe he will have some sort of misunderstanding with Peter Stone. Despite the change in his career path, Dawson was still very loyal to CPD and the Intelligence Unit. Stone could have made an unforgivable comment that caused a fight (maybe one that became physical) and there was only one choice for Dawson - returning to the unit.

That's possible. I'm really curious about they'll do it. It should make sense after Voight made such a big deal of saying that he had been his #2 for long enough and it was time to run his own crew.
