Rory Gilmore and Logan Huntzberger Appreciation Thread

What is Sophies?

This is a play off of Logan's "Master and Commander" comment to Rory for what she should call him in episode 5.03, Written in the Stars.

Master and Commander is the first of Patrick O'Brian's novels about Jack Aubrey. Sophie is the square-rigged ship that Aubrey is Master and Commander of, and those who crew in her refer to themselves as Sophies. It is the ship where Jack Aubrey first makes his name.

So, it is in this spirit that those who ship the Master and Commander and His Lady are known as: Sophies.

well in another thread we're discussing whether logan is more invested in the relationship than rory or not..so i guess we could talk about that? things that have happened that can be argued either way?
i think the fact that rory made the first move, in kissing him, and then in saying she loved him, was gd because it made the relationship stand out from her other ones, so she was kind of propelling it forward rather than the guy..

that's an interesting discussion..

Like you said, that she made the first move in WBB and said ILY first, does show that Logan was different from other guys and I do appreciate that.

In Logan's case though, I think he's been really good at expressing his feelings. Especially considering he's being somebody's boyfriend for the first time. I mean the gifts that he's given her, without any reason to it, suggesting to move in, giving her time when she took time away from Yale, the whole jealousy thing in PF and of course the drive to go after Rory in 6.11 and 6.12
Action wise, i think Logan has shown more how much he cares for Rory. But hasn't it always been that way?! I mean Dean thought of stuff they could do for the 3 month anniversairy.. and Jess.. well Jess fought with Dean to show his love.. That's the only thing that comes to mind..

And my thoughts are that Logan is more into this relationship than Rory ... sure she made the first step and I'm sure she was first in love with him but Logan's love is deeper I think ... he would do anything for her and I can't say that about Rory ...

This relationship is very different from her others but still she is the one who is a step behind, who is hiding something ... at least that's my feeling ... I mean she is more than insecure ... look back to epi 14 ... the answer to his question "do you belong to me" was "yes, I guess I do" and her reaction to his statement that he would never do anything about another girl because he loves her and wants to be with her was "That's good I guess" ... I think Logan is more invested in every way

You make a point about her insecurity.. I never noticed the 'I guess' ... Perhaps she's still doubtful about a few things.

ye i think she's perhaps afraid to let herself be completely into a relationship, whereas logan is going in with all his heart. maybe it's because of what's happened with dean and jess, maybe she's a little afraid, she's always been a 'runner'.
i think she was clearly more invested in season 5, esp in 518 when she was crying over not having spoken to him in a week. altho even in 705 it seemed clear how happy she was to be around him, and her little jealous episode over bobby kinda shows she really does want him. 708 was nice as well when she was making sure he knew how proud she was of him and stuff.

Rory clearly shows how she feels, and she cares deeply for Logan.. But I think during the big moments, she'll run or hide.
