That's great. Getting into vet school is really hard because there are only 28 in the US. The school I went to in the Carribean, Ross and another Carribean school, St. Georges are really well accepted here in the states though. It was hard living in what is essentially a 3rd world country (although is rocked during the occasional down time when I got to pretend I was on vacation) but it was all worth it in the end. The Carribean schools are easier to get into, but they're much harder to stay in. They fail a lot of people as opposed to the US schools that are really hard to get into but once you're in they do everything possible to make sure you stay in. When I applied to Cornell and didn't get accepted, they told me the average GPA of the accepted student was 3.7. I'm not upset that I didn't get better grades in undergrad though. My grades were good, but certainly not up to that level, but I was also doing a lot of other stuff--I had a job, I was in a community service fraternity, ect. I enjoyed all the experiences of college because once I got into vet school, vet school was pretty much all I had time to worry about.

So basically, my advice is that it's a lot of hard work but it's worth it. If she still wants this when she's old enough to get a job, I would recommend getting a job at a vet clinic, even if it's just cleaning out kennels to start, which it probably will be. She'll learn a lot and get to see the different sides of it and help her decide if it's what she really wants. Plus, experience is a definite plus when applying. THe other advice is that if she really wants it, she shouldn't give up and she should take any opportunity she gets and make the most of it. Like I said, it's extremely difficult to get into a vet school. If she doesn't get in right away she shouldn't give up on applying and she should consider other possibilities like going to a Carribean school like I did.

That's a lot to take in I'm sure, considering it's all still a loooong way off and probably way more than you wanted to know at this point

Oh no that was great Lauren cause my son wants to become a vet also and he is already in 10th grade so yeah that was very helpfull info. I had no clue it was so hard to get into and that there are only 28 schools for it that's crazy.

Ooh, you're son too? That's awsome. We need more boys in vet school. The disribution right now is about 80% female. It got a bit lonely down on that tiny little island

Because they overreact about the stupidest things. Obviously we are talking about Chase. I broke/dislocated 2 of my fingers thursday and I didn't call Chase until today because I had a cheer competition in Chatta. So he was freaking out and came over and was in a bad mood already for something weird and then got mad at me not telling him and I told him he was being ridiculous and just laughed (not haha but like ha even though it was like haha) he was like we are fighting how can you find this funny and I wasn't fighting so I told he was fighting so it was more like a one sided fight so he was just fighting himself and so he said I'm leaving, I said Bye babe love you! and then he left so... boys are stupid

Sillyy bos. At least he cares though. How did you hurt your fingers? Doesn't that interfere with you abillity to compete in a cheer competition?

Well you might not know what it is so i you want me to explain I will. I was doing a kick double basket and then when they catch me they throw me through this girl's legs who is upside in a 'scissor' and then people who catch me in the front didn't catch me completely ad I put my hand down to prevent from breaking my nose and then next thing I knew two of my fingers were completely horizontal to my hand at the knuckle.

It should have, but no one else can do that part so I just didn't tumble, but the doctor told me not to so... shhh!
