The potential series — written and EP’d by Amy Holden Jones (ABC’s Black Box), and Code Black duo Hayley Schore and Roshan Sethi — centers on Devon Pravesh (played by Halt and Catch Fire‘s Manish Dayal), an idealistic young doctor who begins his first day under the supervision of a tough, brilliant senior resident, Conrad Hawkins (played by Czuchry), who pulls the curtain back on all of the good and evil in modern day medicine. Lives may be saved or lost, but expectations will always be shattered.

• Previously called 'The City'
• The City centers on an idealistic young doctor who begins his first day of residency under the supervision of a senior resident who appears tough and brilliant, but turns out to be a cunning and deadly psychopath. The project’s take on the medical drama genre is being compared to what The Shield did for police procedurals.
• Pilot order for Fox on January 30th
• Matt is the co-lead of the show, next to Manish Dayal.

Them premiering the TV promo during the World series gives me hope.

It's a good sign, isn't it? Especially considering the other FOX new fall shows aren't doing so well (especially The Orville).

And I found out some info (on facebook) about the show which is likely based on a book.

I don't watch much, if any, TV besides sports but I'm going to watch this new series inspired by Dr. Marty Makary's book (Unaccountable) which is one of my 2 books I recommend everyone read about healthcare. To the extent they stay true to Makary's book, this will be a big eye-opener for most people. Every hospital has what doctors commonly call "Dr HODAD" (hands of death and destruction). All the docs & nurses know you'd never want anyone you care about near Dr. HODAD but medical culture suppresses calling the Dr. HODAD's out as they're money-makers for hospitals.
