Honestly, looking back after a few weeks I think both of them screwed up equally bad at the end of the season. Alicia with not consulting with Cary about the merger and Cary just going behind everyone's back to go see Canning.

I'm more annoyed to Alicia. sincerelly. She didn't consult him about the merge and when he explained her why he was against it (with all really reasonable arguments while instead Alicia's reasons were absolutely selfish and not economically smart) she quickly tried to get all the votes to outvote him. She should have waited a bit more and keep discussing it with him.
She did put Cary in a really bad position. She was the first one who betrayed Cary. As partner she shouldn't have never put the merge on vote if Cary was against it and he was somewhat forced to do go behind her back because in his mind that was the only way to save HIS firm. And he was right about the merge. It would have been a disaster and would have destroyed everything he and the other partners worked for.
