makes me think they want to alienate 75% of the viewing audience
They say the audience is splitted in two so I'm happy that at least - beside the reasons - many viewers want to go the hard way, for the good of the show too. I admit that dividing us inot pro-marriage and young babes is a bit weird... Josh Charles is 39 so not really young, of course Chris Noth is 55 but the only really young guy here is Matt.

BTW, now I know why CN hates the NY Post... (usually they tend to say nasty things about him)

Despite my anger I'd give them even more credit. It's not only that the audience is evenly divided between A/P, A/W, A/someone-else, A/no-one-for-now it is also that each member of the audience is to some extent ambivalent about what they want to happen on the show. I'd say there are many who are not in any one camp. I, for one, want to see A/W in a honest to God relationship at some point, but don't want to miss out on the forgiveness, rebuilding drama between A/P either.

And I want her single...just kidding

I still don't warm up to AW enough to feel the urge to see them together, on the side I think A/P still need some time.

I think the reasons for people warming up to any relationship or character vary so what may strike me as something special may not always work for everyone else. The funny thing is that I was surprised so many people liked A/W. I like them because of personal reasons (a similar road-not-taken situation in my life and I like to imagine if it would still last after 15 years. Total TMI right there ). There are parts of the story that jump out at me and it seems like the characters were written a certain way and communicate the way they do after consulting with me. And sometimes they say things to each other, act around each other the way I wish I had.
Back to the spoiler topic. Lemme start speculating. Seems like after Peter disappears during the service Alicia realizes that it was all just a ploy and he wasn't interested in religion and spiritual guidance at all. Maybe she expected to be let in on how much of it was political maneuvering and how much of it was authentic. Something else may happen to compound her sense of anger and disappointment. She's heading out of the apartment to meet someone, most probably Will. Peter can't let her say that the marriage is over and decides to run after her against his better judgement. All of them have to think of ways to save him. Obviously Alicia doesn't get to go meet Will. If he knew she was coming to see him and then she doesn't show up, it would explain why he disappears in Mock. And why she's desperately trying to contact him. one thing is for sure - we're in for some major drama in the next 5 episodes.

Oh and biggest clue to the A/P marriage having hit a very rough patch has to be that it is Eli Gold and not Peter who is asking Alicia to stand by Peter during his campaign. It is reduced to a commercial bargaining that way, as opposed to an emotional appeal. Also the fact that at all the momentous moments in their like A and P are alone or with other people. Peter is alone when he gets the news of his acquittal. Alicia goes out to celebrate with Kalinda about her job. Peter goes out with his kids ( no Alicia) for the celebratory dinner. Seems to me this "over" sentiment is going to stick in Alicia's heart at least till the end of the season. Doesn't mean she is going to run into Will's arms either, but certainly not into Peter's.

I agree even if I'm solidly on A/P. What I don't want is Alicia falling for the easy way of cheating, Alicia going back and forth from Peter to Will to Peter. In my opinion we have time for everything but you need to stay true to caracter and fair to viewers.
Not to mention that suddenly alienate part of the audience is not exactly a way to stay in the market (we hardcore fans may stay whatever the outcome but I believe that making Alicia an adulteress may not be a smart move). I would end up on hating her, I know

From the very beginning I never saw A/W happening before Season 3. I always thought A/P would remain married for at least 2 seasons and maybe by the end of S2 things would start to unravel. But then Heart happened and the writers seem to have on foot firmly planted on the accelerator. That's why I worry about the show and keep crying about whether they have a plan or not. Now, if Alicia makes up her mind to leave Peter but then sees things in Will she doesn't like and then goes back to Peter and then realizes she isn't the same woman anymore to be married to him and then goes on to third guy ......
....see how exhausting that sounds. I hope it's not going to be this way. I'd just fasten my seat belt and wait for the bumpy ride.

ITA! I keep thinking back to Veronica Mars & Heroes. Were the first season was good and then after that they had no clue where to go. No plan. In some ways before a show gets picked up, they should be required to submit a outline for future seasons.

I also hate when the writers are influenced by the audience or the network. I hated how on Alias they sped things up for Syd & Vaughn because the network wanted it, because thats what the fans wanted. Kinda ruined the journey. IMO.

Well the latest articles said that it helped them to get a early pick up so they saved a lot they would have used for season 2, so I wouldn't worry

I'm not going to worry either... So far the writers have handled things in such a great way
and synopsis plus promos can be very deceiving..

I just didn't expect the reply btw Jess..

Btw I doubt the choosing Peter or Will thing has anything to do with her feeling for them.. but more for herself.. Who does she want to be again... a stay at home mom again who supports her husband or a lawyer?!

If the writers decide to go for this plot, we won't have a third season
I'm not sure TGW could be a more than 2/3 season show anyway.
